Hi!!!

I completely understanding about the constantly starting over. Been there and done that and have the t-shirt. LOL

I'm doing pretty good. The last six months I went to vegan eating, and slooooooooooowly have lost about six pounds, which is about 1/4 lb per month. LOL

But considering I made it through the holidays without gaining, then I feel I'm doing o.k.

I'm trying to make sure I exercise at least 4 times a week, and actually lately I've been meeting that goal. I feel soooooooooo much better when I exercise and eat right. Wonder why it's so hard? So far this season, as in last I haven't been sick. Not a cough, not a sniffle....knock on wood.

Hey that is fantastic! I don't know if I could handle the vegan route but I admire the fact that you do! Amazing you have not been ill (knocking, on your behalf..,)

I have set a goal, to be able to jog 5 miles by the end of the year, we have a great track, and there are also a bunch of treadmills in our exercise room in the building. There is no reason I shouldn't be able to, esp. if I do the water and stop eating so many carbs! ODAT right?

and 6 POUNDS is awesome! Makes a lot of difference in how your clothes hang. (well, mine, anyway ... :) I can't see you...)

I don't think I have lost any wt yet, but already I feel more energetic and "fit", not real sore. Cool :)

I just realized the other day that I accomplished one of my dreams I've had for a long time. It seems real simple, but I moved here last Oct or so really depressed and not really caring where I ended up. Barely looked at the apt, said "yah", and moved in. Haven't even finished unpacking or putting up pictures. It is the same bldg my best friend lives in (she is moving 2.5 hrs away, btw!)

ANYway, I always said "Oh I wish I lived right next to such and such a place, it is so perfect for walking..", and you guys have seen a number of pix I've taken there. Well, that's where I live. Right next to that place! It takes me less than 5 minutes to walk to it, it's 3.5 mi. around, just gorgeous and well maintained :)

Great for people watching too ;)

Yawn, stretch, rainy sleepy day. Only 2 1/2 hours sleep? I think. Church stuff all day. I've been doing ok with my goals, think I walked 6 out of 7 days last week, food was better calorie and quality wise. Feeling a little stronger yay!

Today just going to rest, but going to structure/schedule exercise the rest of the week. I have started a log where I chart my schedule, to do's, exercise, food diary, mood, and just notes... just to see if I can notice patterns and etc. Also job goals. Gee, I want to go back to bed after all that LOL

The walking area sounds nice. Hope you have a good Sunday.

I'm going to the gym this AM and hoping to eat light, but cook up something festive.

I just noticed this thread (below), and it has some more recent activity, and more frequent - have you been on that thread, Tweety? It seems redundant to have "this" one plus "that" one. hmmm hmmm...

I made some cajun beans and some polenta. Weird combination, but living alone I do that.

The other thread and this one used to go on simultaneously, because that is a "weight loss" thread and this is a "healthy living" thread that is more encompassing. But this thread died, and if you want to post to that one exclusively go for it.

Ah, choices, schmoices. We have too many CHOICES! (runs off screaming) lol... I don't know. I'll see.

So what is "polenta"?

I lost 1.2 lb last week. I added some veggies fruit and water to my diet, but the only activity I got yesterday was a little upper arm strengthening and a very vigorous carrying-of-groceries from the car... in the rain ... I guess you could say I got a LOT of upper arm strengthening!

Stress wise I am starting the job search again and man I hate to cop out of nursing entirely, but those shifts just kill me. Yesterday I looked at a job for a nurse manager of an Assisted Living facility, 20 beds, VERY nice facility (my stepmom's mom lives there). My stepmom said the staff always seems contented. The previous mgr is retiring. There are some qualifications I do not have but maybe enough of them to get by, we'll see... I have thought of getting out of nursing entirely but it keeps calling me back! but it keeps killing me! but it keeps calling me back! lol...

ummm, spiritually doing about 1/2 to 3/4 of an hour Bible studying and prayer, it is a lesson that is changed daily on the internet, I love it! and it helps me start my day somewhat sanely.

Mentally I am taking American Sign Language which is a lot of fun!

How's that for a well-rounded assessment lol (altho didn't listen to my lungs yet ;) ha ha)

You don't have to feel like you gotta come to this thread Tweety if it's just you and me. I am hoping some others will jump back in, think I will PM some members who used to come in.

xo

oh another stress-wise, my brother in FL whose mental health issues have kicked him in the pants the last year - well he picked up a drink last week after 24 years! He sounds like he thought/thinks he could/can control it, his logic is SO skewed ... amazing. He did go back and get a white chip and a new sponsor but the one he drank with was a SPONSEE. Goes to show you how we are never completely out of the woods, I just hope he's done experimenting...

Polenta is also called corn grits. It's very popular in certain parts of Italy and versatile. I added olives, basil and sun dried tomatoes. It was quite good.

Sorry to hear about your brother. My ex had 16 years and went back out. It is what it is.

It does sound like you've got a well rounded assessment. Kudos!

How does that compare to the regular grits they serve down South? (not "your" far south but you know what I mean) I like those...

I can't imagine adding THOSE ingredients if it is similar to regular grits :)

I am sorry about your ex, I had forgotten about that part. Do you still have to deal with him? :(

Last night I ate like a PIG! I ate a regular normal chicken thigh (one) w/ the skin, but I figured, whatever, better than a Whopper; had a 1/2 potato w/ Healthy Start or whatever that stuff is, and a sm amt of light sour cream, then a serving of brussels sprouts w/ a little of the spread... that was probably too much fat but still not too horrible... but then putting the food away... oh my goodness - I had more chicken skin, then 4 oz of tapioca, GEE could I have done worse? easily undid the walking I did yest.

About to walk now, so far doing well ... but ugh, nights are horrid... sigh...

Be good to yourself.

Yes, polenta pretty much is the same as regular white grits which being a Southern boy I do like. :)

I separated from the ex three years ago because he couldn't get sober. He's doing fine now and we are still friends and I'll talk to him every few months or so. He seems to be sober now. It was a tough time, but I'm over it now. It's a dreadful disease.

Mmmmmmmmm making me hungry.

Interesting phenomena at lunch today, I have been walking and drinking water, and I wasn't even hungry at lunch! (I ate a good bkfst but usually I do anyway). Usually I start dying for lunch about 10 or 11 or so (WAY too early). I did eat lunch anyway. I am starting to get hungry again so I need to eat.

ANYWAY - last night was horrible too, got out of church at almost 8:30, starving even tho I had had an early supper - so I got a bunch of the worst things... so mad at myself, I knew what I was doing and didn't care, and then my gerd woke me up at 3 and kept waking me up (I fully expected that, knowing what I'd eaten would do that).

Well back on the horse today, took a shorter walk today because really I overdid it yesterday (and messed up my neck again - forgot I am supposed to take it easy on chiropractor days). Part of the walk was a pretty good steady incline... whew! automatic deep breathing exercise there!

Did a little housework too - ttyl. Sorry you missed Roundup. I know you enjoy it.
