This is the thread where members come to share their journey to wellness and wholeness.
It's a holistic thread, talking about all apects of health, not just diet and exercise, but the mind and spirit as well. All posters are welcome (not just Premium Members) and encouraged on a periodic basis to share what you're doing, what you need to do and how you're going to do it, and what you know!
I thought the trainers were kind of strict, though. Did you see the first episode where they had two tables of food, one healthy and one with junk food? A couple of the walkers chose to split a piece of pizza and they got reamed over it. I'd like to see these shows take a more realistic approach to weight control. If you have walked 12 miles during the day (which would be a huge workout if you weighed 300 lbs), I don't think half a piece of pizza is going to shoot you back to where you were before you began. But, maybe I'm just rationalizing because I like pizza
. .
I agree they were quite strict. And I think a healthier thing would have been to suggest a half slice WITH a salad ... because half a slice is not going to hold them very long nor provide them with much nutrition.
But, they are getting results ...
I think it would be fun to do that. When I was a teen, I did a walkathon that was 13 miles - it was tough but doable. (yes, doable as a TEEN - different story today I'm sure). This is about the avg amt these guys are doing daily.

Aw, we could do it, Zoe--we just might require a looooong nap afterwards .
And we could sneak off camera-range and split a slice . . .

Maybe it is "the" book, who's to say
? That's such a good way to eat, I should do that. I get so tired that I end up eating sweets and if I could get a handle on my diet, that would make all the difference, I bet.
I like "Fat March". I'd like to do that myself. I could only watch the first week r/t work hours (the downside to the NICU is that they don't have TVs by the cribs--sometimes I'd spend a little more time assessing patients when they were watching a show I liked, LOL), but walking seems like a pretty good way to work off the weight and get stronger without killing your body. And you know I like sleeping outside :).

Hope you had a nice visit. It's hard to find time to exercise with extra stuff going on--and welcoming family is easier with "good" food than "good" food, eh?
