Hi guys, ate well today (by well I mean, healthily) ... feel pretty good!

Does green tea have caffeine btw?

No recipe, I just made it up. Lentils, water, boulline, onions, kale......add to boiling water, bring back to a boil, and turn on low for 30 minutes. Other times I add curry, celery, green pepers, rosemary, parsley, whatever is lying around.

You don't have to boil/soak/whatever the lentils? Or do you use them already cooked? If I bug you too much let me know ... I am NOT a chef as you can tell!

With all the rain, the river should be way up....plan on walking out there this afternoon and trying to get some pics of it and some waterfalls. Should be pretty, if it has stopped raining by then.

Did I mention all the rain?...lol.......finally has brought us out of our drought, so no complaints, except have to turn off the computer during the storm.

Well, I am off to have some coffee.......

When we had all that flooding here - I walked down to the river (It had actually crossed the road - flooded the bridge). I was mad at myself for forgetting my camera - but it was spectacular to see. I love to look at that river all year round - it changes every day -

Say hi to Ms Ruth LOL -

GM, everyone. I woke up way too early today, so I'm going back to bed in a minute. Anyhow, still haven't messed up despite lots of work goodies for Nurse's Week.

Ms Angie, good for you! Those work goodies are so awful.

How do you think Hubby is doing?

Good Morning Everyone

Well....I didn't do so good, or so bad yesterday with my eating. We stopped for ice cream on our way home from Church last night. One treat, not so bad.

We got some beautiful pictures of the river last night, boy is it deep and running fast.

Zoe...if Tweety gets tired of the cooking ?'s email me, my dh is a chef....although he is not working as one now, says people are way too picky.

Ms Ruth and I worked out yesterday and I will hit curves again this afternoon in the city.

Now I am off to pack for my trip back for the weekend.

Hoping everyone has a healthy day

AHA......I figured out how to post pics....lol

I posted some of where I live in the members gallery.......go take a look, it is real pretty here right now with all the rain we have had, much better than right after the ice storm at the beginning of the year.

Hi everyone!

Muffie - yes m'aam! I'm a crunchin and a gluggin!

Zoe - Green tea has LOTS less caffeine than coffee. I'll try to find the content for you. Just saw a table on that in the last week or so, so it shouldn't be too hard to come up with.

Angie - how are you and DH doing?

ER - How did Ms. Ruth like curves? Send her our healthy regards!

Hey Sarah and everyone else!

I had a minor procedure today. Have had varicose vein issues for some time (remember old post re; pet boa's on my legs...). A few were trying to come back and had to be 'foamed'. They use a 25 ga. needle and inject this cool solution that foams when agitated between 2 syringes with a stopcock in between. Tiny little pick under ultrasound guidance and voila - vein is foamed and the source of flow for the varicosity is plugged. Oh darn, I have to have my leg wrapped with an ace wrap today and tomorrow, no lifting, no working until Monday. I'm just stuck here at home propped up on the sofa with my laptop, cup of tea, remotes up the wazoo and my ipod. Oh how will I survive! :bluecry1: :rotfl: DH is going to be bringing home dinner to boot. I dunno, this is approaching Vegas in the R&R department. Not quite the same, but lots better than the daily routine!

No lifting for 2 weeks so exercise will be limited to bouts of walking. I know from history to be careful not to over do it in one session.

Let me go find Zoe's caffeine info.....

here ya go, zoe my dear:

[color=#336600][color=#336600]caffeine content comparisons

[color=#336600]the following is the

Sorry guys. I tried to copy a table with the caffeine comparisons and it wouldn't copy. Then I tried to make nice neat columns out of the mess that it posted and it just re-compressed it into a different mess.

Here's the caffeine link if you are interested:

GM, Everyone!

Sarah, sounds like you’re doing well. Check in when you get a chance. Even if you don’t think you’re making progress, the real change is subtle – it’s in the way you think about food.

Tweety, I found the bouillon you mentioned. I like to experiment with different flavors and tomato is very versatile.

Muffie, you just crack me up. I can picture you with a celery stick in one hand and and a carrot in the other. I like my veggies just a tad steamed so my teeth don’t wiggle when I eat them. :D

Blue, best of luck to you on your research paper. Did you come up with a topic yet? The nice thing about Internet research is that you don’t have to lug thousands of books home from the library. Hope your legs are feeling better.

Zoe, I love the WW cookbooks. You know they’re accurate in their nutrition counts for foods. Have you tried any of their recipes?

ER, that’s so great that you found a gym partner. It helps.

DH is doing quite well, for those of you who asked. He’s amazing to me because he’s very pragmatic – if he plots a course of action, he tends to stick to it, right to the letter. The last time he decided to quit something was about 18 years ago when he quit drinking. For a guy who hung out in bars night and day – true, he was single at the time but still – that sufficiently shocked and awed my family into thinking he was good husband material. He’s quit smoking the same way. Not a peep of complaint will he utter. He takes his pills, he stays away from the goodies. Of course, DS is “helping” us with that – we bought the Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches for dessert and we each had one, and we discovered yesterday that they’re all gone.

DH had a very important test yesterday, and we were so busy we never had a chance to eat, so we wound up at Carrabba’s for supper. No dessert. We split the appetizer. He had the veal marsala and house salad. I had steak marsala and the Caesar salad. All biggie no-nos for me, but I’ll happily trade a nice dinner once in awhile for tuna fish and egg salad dinners for the rest of the week. Besides, we know this guy who’s a waiter there who’s just fantastic, so we partly went to see him, too. We had to wait 30 minutes for a table of his, but it was well worth it. The dinner was great and our friend was awesome as usual.

Hi guys!

Got word last evening. Our friend who went with us to Las Vegas passed away. There was a wonderful nurse who held her hand and was with her at the end, giving her permission to go, passing along all our thoughts and prayers since none of us could get back there in time (she started to deteriorate very quickly yesterday morning). God bless every nurse who has done the same! We all keep second guessing ways we could have gotten her home, kept her going longer, etc. etc. etc. But we all keep coming back to the fact that her goal for the last 2 years was to get to this trip to Vegas, to the horse show and the shows she wanted to see and this last 'hurrah'. Once she got there and her wish was fulfilled, she didn't have any energy left for anything else. She has mostly been sleeping this last 2 weeks and knew her friends and family were constantly pulling for her. She slipped out peacefully. She will be cremated, with memorial services in a couple of weeks as she requested.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers!!! Just wanted you to have 'the rest of the story'.

I'm sure sorry, Blue. My heart goes out to you. I'm glad that she was able to have that trip to Vegas--that must have meant so much to her. It sounds like she had a good death, even without her family. What a wonderful nurse she had.

I'll keep praying for you and those connected with your friend. I hope you all can have peace. Love to you.

Hi guys! I sooooo love you guys. :) Anyway, I am doing awesome - I finally hit my first goal this week - I hit the "lost 20 lbs." mark - WooHoo!!! Joy!!! I am so excited!

Wow, I am still swamped, so I'm sorry, I am still behind on posts and I'm likely to stay that way for a while because I have OB clinicals on Monday and then Child Development Service clinicals on Tuesday. So, hopefully, exhausted me will talk to y'all towards the end of next week. ;)

However, we had a crash-course (about an hour and a half) on central line flushing, blood draws, central line dressing changes, & the like, then we got about 20 minutes to practice & anybody that wanted to try to check-off could. I thought, what the heck, I think I've got this down (I'm all interested in PICC lines & q-ports and that, so I stalked the nurses working with those on my med-surg clinicals, hehe), so I went for it and you know what . . . I PASSED!!! WooHoo!!! So now that is one less thing I have to worry about this semester, yeay!

Anyway, hope everyone is having a happy, healthy day and I hope that carries into the weekend for all of you!

I'll talk to y'all when I get a chance again. ;) I'll miss you guys while I'm busy though!

Good day everyone.

Ruth and I worked out and she did very well, I was worried about her. She is 71 and has probably never worked out.......anyway, she and I are going to exercise together every tues morn.

I got the job that is closer to home, and today I got a per diem job at the hospital I eventually want to work at. I just can't take the pay cut just yet ( still paying mortgage on house in Denver)

Blue...sorry to hear about your friend, but sounds like she did it the way she wanted, and don't we all want that?

Angie....wish I had some kids to help us out with the junk food at home. I found out my dh is snacking and eatting the whole time I am gone...finally figured out my working away from home is depressing to him......when I found out I had the job, he cried......was so glad I would finally be at home..wish he had said something sooner.

Sarah.......congrats on the weight loss and passing your iv lines/flushes test.

Muffie...I envy you, I wish I could be more dedicated to the veggies and frutis. Fruits not so much a problem with, but the veggies I do.

Tweety, Zoe, and anyone else I missed....hope you are having a good day.

I am starting my work week tonight, so going to take a nap.
