Tonite I had a craving for something sweet. I thought, I know - Fig Newtons! Fiber, not so sweet, almost GOOD for me ... then ... I read the label (shudder)...

Oh, and P.S. Fiber = ZERO Grams!!!

zoe, have you ever had to eat dessert with a gun pointed at you ?!?!?!

lick that fig newton till it's gone, might take a half hour or so :nono:

Oh I hate to tell ya how many of them I "licked" in a half an hour! :monkeydance:

as to the dessert - it feels like that at WORK! especially when the professional baker is on duty - and brings in SAMPLES! She just about cries when you won't "have just one".

Tweety, I'd take you out if we lived closer :). I'd be happy to meet you in Chicago or some otherwhere in the middle ;)

One fig newton, I dunno. I could probably limit myself to one sleeve. No fiber, really?

Interesting info. . . I read where Dr. Realage is only 136 pounds  I don't know what else to say about that.

Hey the info in the earlier posts is interesting. Thanks.

I went to the gym this morning, I've had 6 cups of HOH so far and had the best navy bean soup for lunch. A little cafe near my house makes delicious homemade soup and that one's my favorite.

Here's a recipe for y'all. It's very NOT spicy, so you'd probably want to add something if you weren't making it for kids, but all of my kids love it and we're not necessarily a healthy eating family

Lentil soup:

1 cup dried lentils

5 cups water

15 oz can tomato sauce

1 1/2 cups sliced carrots

onion

bacon

salt to taste

pepper to taste

Combine lentils, water, carrots and onion in crockpot. Cook on high for two hours and then low until dinner. Just make sure you cook long enough for the lentils to become soft. Then add the rest of the ingredients and cook until warmed.

I use green onions, as many as I can stand to cut, but it wouldn't matter what kind. I also use really crispy bacon, you could do ham instead or no meat at all if you prefer.

I double the recipe because I've got a mess of kids, but I make sure to skim some off before I serve it and freeze it so I can take it to work for lunch. It freezes great.

Just make sure you use one of those amazing crock pot liners. What smartie invented that?

LOL! Oh my gosh, you guys are too funny! Well hey, laughter is healthy, so this is a good thing! :)

Tweety, hopefully that condo will be done soon, you are a good person to allow him to stay until it is. ((((HUGS)))) Indian food sounds good, but I'm afraid I'll have to decline because I have class tomorrow and I don't think I can get all the way across the country and then back again for my test. Phooey!

Zoe, Hiker & Muffie, sounds like all is well except the gosh darned indian food and pastry-toting devil woman - haha. I am surrounded by women who love to bake and then pawn their food off on the others in the office, so I can relate. This is why I have veggies available. That way, when they're all munching on cookies or cake or brownies or whatever, I have something to put in my mouth and it helps me feel less-deprived. Oh, I have also found that I love sugar-free (and low-carb for me) hot chocolate, it helps with the chocolate cravings without killing the diet for me.

Well, my stress level is rising pre-test (tomorrow - 1st Med/Surg test, so not sure what to expect, which = freaking out), so I'm going to work really hard on keeping control of my eating habits and not fall off the wagon (too soon to be doing that for sure!).

I wasn't exactly great about eating yesterday, but I did follow my low-carb thing. I was pretty good during the day where I ate about a ton of broccoli with cheese, but in the evening it took forever to get to class because the roads are so icy, so I stopped by Wendy's and had a hamburger (minus the bun) for supper. Could be worse I guess, but definitely not good. I will try for white meat today or if that doesn't happen, at least a big salad with supper instead of just meat. :)

Hope I got everyone in here - if not, Hi y'all! Wishing everybody a happy, healthy day!

Thanks Sarah. Good luck on the test.

I bumped into an acquainstance just now at the grocery store. Not a good friend, just someone I know and bump into now and then. "I thought that was you! You've gained some weight, I can see it in your face."

Gee thanks for keeping it real. LOL
