Greetings. Deb is going to put a sticky on this thread and eventually delete the other.
This is the thread where members come to share their journey to wellness and wholeness.
It's a holistic thread, talking about all apects of health, not just diet and exercise, but the mind and spirit as well. All posters are welcome (not just Premium Members) and encouraged on a periodic basis to share what you're doing, what you need to do and how you're going to do it, and what you know!
Today for bk I had something "evil" with my coffee. For lunch, hamburg patty, salad, potato, cherries. I have two church services on Sundays - then a nice relaxing time in between - love it
Well, going to church twice on Sunday ought to make up for any "evil" intake I couldn't quite tell if the "evil" came from something you ate with your coffee or added to it . . .
Either way, you should be covered :wink2:

Let us just say HIGH UN-complex CARB! ha ha!
And yeah, I think I SHOULD be covered... hee hee
I'm off to the gym.
Rain, there were donuts at work and I resisted!!! It's a good thing there were no jelly donuts (yes I looked). LOL
Today's a new day. I leave yesterday behind and try to live welll today, without looking into too many goals for the future which may fail. Today I'll go to the gym and eat healthy. One step at a time.
Something about low carb here. I thought of you Sarah. http://www.realage.com/news_features/tip.aspx?v=1&cid=17661MI
I am so glad I found this thread!!
I gained quite a bit of weight while I was in nursing school. I have always fluctuated in my weight but for the most part I have maintained 170 pounds. I am 5'7", and that was always a good weight for my build. Eight years ago, I had a child and gained weight , never lost it, then in school gained some more. I am now a whopping 250 pounds I can't believe I am sooo fat!
It is so difficult for me to go to the gym, since people i work with are there it is soo embarresssing, and yes I am embarresed every day, because I know what I used to look like and how I felt.
I know i need to go and work out, the worst part is I dont each much..when i was doing nutrition class and had to do a week module of caloric intake and exercise I took in less than 1000 calories a day....but my expenditure was like 500, so of course I was gaining.
I am going to the gym today, but it is hard to keep doing it every day with kids family and 12 hour shifts, wish me luck.
Thanks for the link Tweety - that is good to know. I am really trying to implement more veggies on my diet and restrict the red meat intake - some days are better than others for that. We had meatloaf and broccoli last night. I filled my plate with a ton of broccoli and had a slice of meatloaf. I was all proud of myself until I was reading a chapter for school and noticed that I had grabbed and was eating a Hershey's bar with almonds! What!!!!!! I think this mindless munching is what gets me into the most trouble. I didn't even know I had gotten it (at least, not consciously) until I caught myself in mid-bite. Hmm. My brain is trying to kill me. I am banning myself from eating anything while I do homework from now on because apparently that leads me to my temptations waaaaaay too easily.
Back on track today. I bought a bunch of those individual servings (I think they're by green giant if anybody is interested) of broccoli mixed with cheese and brought them to work so that when the others are munching on "evil" food, I can have something cruncy that is good for me. :)
Sounds like everyone is doing great and really getting on the ball, I am so proud of all of you and I know that together we can reach our goals!
Tweety - glad you are feeling better, being sick is the worst thing for my diets and I'm sure it didn't help you either. I'm glad you could resist the donut, that's a biggie!
Blue, there is nothing that makes you feel quite as fresh as getting your hair done and the nice part is, then you feel good so you eat good and take care of yourself. Enjoy it!
Scrubs, I know what you mean about the weight. I actually lost weight after I had my kids, but getting married had been what did me in. I still though am in the obese category. (I have, however, gone from being extremely obese to just obese and that is a huge victory for me.) I had done really good, but since I started school I have gained back quite a bit and so I am working on re-shedding that before I end up gaining it all back. Welcome to the thread, it is a great motivator!
Hi Hiker & Zoe & Muffie!
If I left anybody out, I am sorry. I am trying not to be in a hurry, but it doesn't seem that I am winning. So Hi to everybody!!! :)
Have a healthy day y'all!
Howdy and welcome Hugs :). This is a great thread. Yeah, we rock Don't worry about the gym, though. If anyone is even thinking about you, they're probably admiring your willingess to work out. I found the county rec center works better for me because it's "regular folk" trying to work off the baby weight (no matter how old the baby is, LOL) or getting active after years of not doing much at all.
That's funny, Sarah. We're having meatloaf and broccoli for dinner tonight :) I find myself eating the worst foods when I'm studying. It's as if subconciously I think that since the brain is fueled by glucose that the more glucose, the higher the test score And, like you, the worst part is that I don't even realize what I'm doing. Chocolate/nut candy is the hardest kind for me to resist.
Great work on the donut, Tweety! It's those "little" victories that add up in a big way.
I went to the gym this morning before school. Got an hour in. I walked on the treadmill, but I had it inclined. It felt good. It's funny, posting my goals has really helped me. Last night, when I was rummaging around for something to eat, I realized I was a fruit short and ended eating an orange instead. That felt like a victory :)
