Because of chronic tonsillitis and tonsilloliths I'm have them removed on Wednesday. I'd like to hear anecdotal stories from anyone who experienced this or cared for someone in this situation. A caveat: I will heed my ENTs instructions and am not asking for medical advice.

As much ice cream as you can handle without getting brain freeze. Seriously

No strategy, just time and it will heal.

I had most of a klondike bar today which was delicious, but the milk coated my throat making me swallow more than I usually would. Tolerated popsicles ok. Just had broth, but it also had noodles and chunks of chicken. That hurt to try and mush and swallow. Gonna try to eat cold farina now.

I have good meds. Norco 7.5 which I take half of, left over zofran, new rx for phenergan elixer. And a tetracaine lolly.

I had my tonsils out as an adult, and I was shocked when the nurses brought me pretzels to eat. I had always heard ice cream ice cream!! They said the hard crunchy food was meant to keep the scabbing from getting thick. I don't know if any other practitioners do this, but it was horrible. Just rest and be gentle to yourself as you heal.

Oh gosh, I couldn't do french toast this morning (POD2), I can't imagine pretzels. Using my tongue to help chew was quite uncomfortable. And yes. the scabs feel thick. I keep swallowing to try to thin them out.

I'm gonna try some rice tonight, I think. This is a frightening concept because I've had trouble with rice which led me to needing my tonsils out.

Today was better. Only took 1/2 pain pill and later in the day. Tolerating oatmeal, icecream, home made chicken noodle soup (so good). And I'm craving a soda. I havent' had any since Tuesday.

I doubt the carbonated beverage would be a good idea but oh gosh that Cherry Zero is calling my name.

Also had popsicles and a fruit smoothie. (frozen mango pieces in white grape/peach juice.)

Oh dear me, the nausea today was the worst and that's just when waking up. I had a zofran and now I've tolerated a soft dinner roll for breakfast.

Thanks, y'all, for allowing me the journalling effect of this.

As the scabs sloughing off the pain is different and worse at night. I can't talk as much or sing, which is a major downer. I'm getting productive at home, though. Enjoying being off. Go back on the 17th.

I had an EGD scheduled for this coming Tuesday which I've had to postpone as my throat is still too raw. Yesterday seems to be the worst yet. Tolerating mechanical soft foods Okay.

What's also nagging me is the no strenuous activities for two weeks. I haven't exercised and I feel gross.
