Is it me or does this exam appear to be everything that I learned in traditional nursing semester 1?

I took this test right out of nursing school with about 5 days of studying. It was all review. That being said, a lot people fail this test on their first try. Not sure why but they do so don't take it for granted.
I answered all of the questions in the back of the content review booklet and I am going to review the material briefly. Did you take the practice exams for health safety? Also, have you completed health chronicity? If so, what did you think? I completed almost 2 semesters of nursing school before my husband and I agreed that traditional school was not the best thing for my household at that time.

Don't take this exam for granted...like all. Do the studying especially in the areas worth 20%. Do the practice exams, if you score in the 70's go for it.
Chronicity, I thought was a little harder than Health Safety and Reproductive. Do the practice exams, study the areas you score lower in.
I took the practice exams for all the test.

Can you tell me what tests we need to take. What have you taken and what were your thoughts i.e. hard, really hard, straight forward.
Thank you.

I'm not sure if you are under the old curriculum or not but I am under the new curriculum.
I took:
1. Health Safety-Fairly easy
3. Chronicity-Hard and boring
3. Essentials in Reproductive health-Fairly easy
4. HD1-Took some time to refresh-not easy IMO
5. HD2-Failed the first time I took it.VERY hard test
6. HD3-Very hard test but I passed
7.Transitions-Failed the first time I took it. This test is
boring and full of facts. DO NOT take this test
for granted.
Also take into consideration, I only studied 2-3 weeks for each exam and I had to repeat two. It took me 6 months to complete them all. If time was not an issue I would have take my time and aimed for "A's".My friend took all the test and a repeat in 4 months. This is my experience. You have to know yourself. You may not be able to test as fast. I was very motivated and right out of nursing school. Good Luck!
Thank you for replying. I have not enrolled yet. Still waiting for them to complete evaluation. I too just finished nursing school, but was less than a point short on my final average. They would not let me repeat, so I am doing this. I also hope to finish asap. that is my goal. Congrats on all your accomplishments. Best of luck.

The practice exams are a really worthwhile investment.

How do you get the practice tests? are they on the excelsior website? How much do they costs?

Vonsay, yes -- you register for them through the EC website. They are $60, and for that you get two 100-question exams. They are timed; you have to sit down and take the whole thing at one time (I think it's what, 2 hours? Been a while, don't exactly remember). But you have access to them for something like 120 days total from the time you register for them, so you should have plenty of time to review them. They provide rationales for correct and incorrect answers, so I found them to be very valuable study tools. You can also calculate which areas you still need to focus on, too.
Thanks a lot! I think that I'll take the advice and always use the practice exams. I certainly don't want to fail and have to wait 6 months to retake anything!
