I would like to know how much (approx) everyone is paying for health, dental and vision. I am taking a new home health job and the insurance is about the same as a house payment! $587/mo for a family...I am in rural Ohio. My husband (who is laid off of course) is $140. I currently work at a large hospital and it is about $330/mo. and every stipulation that you can think of to use that hospital and it's dr's...even though I live 40 min from there and it really isn't feasible. I just don't get the HUGE difference between factory health care cost and health care- health care cost...
oh wow, I didn't realize how lucky I really am. I have an HMO; for me, my husband and 2 kiddos, I pay a grand total of...nothing!! My employer pays for all of it..I pay about 25 bucks a pay period for dental and vision. I will seriously NEVER complain again. (not that I ever really did ) $10 co-pay for doc visits, $50 for ER which is waived if admitted, $5 generic meds, $10 name brand.
I pay $65 a week for a policy through my home health agency. That's for a single person and not the best policy they have either!
Be sure to check what the cap on their payments is. When I worked for a HH agency, 5 years ago, I was told that my health insurance (for me, only) woud cost me $325./month. When I asked what the maximum amount they would pay out for my health care was, I was told they didn't know, but would find out. The answer was $1750./year!
Corruption is alive and well, in the health insurance industry. They must think we were "Born Yesterday".....
I pay about $260/month for HMO insurance through my employer. I also pay $40/ for PPO dentist. Vision is included. This is for a family of three. If I were single the HMO would be free. PPO medical is extra. I am happy to have these benefits and am currently wanting to get my adult child benefits that he will pay for himself as his employer doesnot offer them.
Wow, I'd heard about how expensive health care is down there but some of this figures are obscene.
I pay a grand total of $16.60 for dental coverage for 2 children, two adults. My husband pays $22/month for extended health (basically covers rx, glasses, room premiums). Our provincial health care is free.

I'm amazed at the wide range of health costs! I'm not sure who thought my original post was for self pay...it is not. This is thru my employer. How do these ins. co's expect people to pay these prices?!?! If I ruled the world....LOL!!
