Hello, this is my first time posting but I could really use some help. I got accepted into nursing school yesterday and I’m super excited but having health insurance is required and I currently don’t have any. I asked my school if they have any linked to them but unfortunately they do not. A lot of company’s say the “enrollment period” is over and I have to wait until about October but I need it within the next two weeks... Im trying to do research on this because I’m pretty sure there’s a way for me to get some kind of health insurance. Any help would be appreciated on where I should look to get some insurance for school!!! Thank you.

Congrats on getting into nursing school! You can try applying for medicare - i think it's income based but i'm not sure if they have any specific enrollment periods but it's worth a shot. Also try googling "health insurance enrollment (your state)" For example I live in TX and know they offer income based coverage here, I know some people at my school use it. Again, i'm not sure what the enrollment dates/processes are like.

What state are you in? The healthcare marketplace in your state might have a special enrollment period depending on what your circumstances are.

Actually, Medicare is only available for those 65 or older and in some cases, for those with a chronic condition such as ESRD, etc,.
Babysplash is correct - check your state's low income based health insurance program & see if they might let you enroll. You may have to provide proof of previous insurance to qualify though.
Thank you for the responses!! I am in Texas. I wasn’t accepted for special enrollment and was told I would have to wait until November. Luckily I found a temporary health insurance with Golden Rule, therefore I should be good for this new school year until I wait for the enrollment period!
