He Is Thinking Of Quitting

Specialties Ob/Gyn

HI ALL, I am writing here as you can tell i am a lurker more than a poster. but I have gotten to know one of the nurses that frequent here and have decided to let everyone know he is thinking of quitting his job again. he is a great nurse and a wonderful person his patients love him where ever he goes,. but it all seems to be getting to him lately, he takes his job seriously and wants all his patients experiences to be wonderful, he even volunteers as a doula on his days off. I have seen him work all night and stay almost all day with a laboring patient. but it seems that some of his coworkers are jealous some openly try to make trouble for him, some have even thrown away some letters and survey cards with his name on it out of jealousy. he is a good hearted person and will do any thing for anyone.

i am worried because i think the stress of all of that and the fact that they had a couple of bad outcomes lately may drive him away from us. it would be such a loss for his patients and nursing.

well i just had to post, i did not use his name because i am not sure he would want it posted around, like i said it is only a thought on his mind at this time. I pray it does not come to pass. everyone just keep him in your prayers. thanks HOLLY

hope 2003 brings you wonderful things! you are smart to take some time off and relax.

Mark,

I don't know you like the others here do, but just reading Holly's post gives me a great respect for you. You are what I aspired to be when I went into nursing. After having my first 2 childrens births be mediocre at best then having the most amazing, caring competent nurse for my last child, I saw what a nurse should be.

You exemplefy all those qualities. It would be a sad day for your patients and coworkers (even if they don't realize it!) if you were to leave. Nursing needs more people like you. Don't give up, take your break with your family and rejuvenate your mind, body and spirit.

Best of Luck

Mark---

well you KNOW how I feel about you. Do what is BEST for YOU and forget what OTHERS say or want. You are a blessing wherever you go. If you must move on, I don't blame you one bit. Ever think of traveling, say, to Seattle??????

Hi everyone thanks for the kind words and all:).

smilingblueyes I have traved and though of doing it again so day. will see who things go, but if i am ever in your area I will be sure to look you up. would love to meet you as well as others from here i think it would be fun.

well back to the topic of this post, things are looking up a lot I am enjoying my time off. I was called to meet with the nurse manager of the unit in question. it seems that Holly as well as several others turned in their resignations based on my leaving. the meeting went well, she claims to have not been aware of some of the things that were going on ( which i can believe she is very busy). she asked me to stay on staff ,after I take sometime off. she also told me she held to staff mandatory staff meetings to make sure all staff attended to discuss the issues that brought this on. it all seems sincere I meet some of the staff today and they asked me to stay, got lots of hugs :) and a couple of appologies. I told the manager i would consider staying. and would let her know when i get back next week.

I feel much better already, I think i just had to much on my plate and let it all get to me. But i am definitely going to continue with my nursing career and with my regular full time job and go from there. thanks everyone,Mark

sometimes time off is all we need to gain perspective and strength. I know you will make the right decision for you and your family, Mark. Seattle is always good, tho. Bring the wife, we can have latte's. Take care, buddy. Iwish you well!

Mark,

I am so glad you seem to be resolving things. I am taking time off, too. With all we do, it's a wonder any of us stay in it. You seem to be the nurse we all want when we're in the hospital and I'll echo the others by saying if you need a place to work....come to Arkansas!!! I know...get in line!

Have a great New Year!!!!

i know I'm not a regular poster but I'm a very regular lurker. Just found out I'm expecting #2 - and Mark, if you'll move to Seattle, I'll make the drive down so you can be my nurse. c'mon, whaddaya say? lol

thanks everyone!

CMTMom i would be glad to be your nurse:)

well I think everthing is working out ok here, tonight is my first night back after a few days off. it is going very well, when i got back i was notified I recieved an award and am invited to the anuall awards ceremony. it seems i am the only one in the hospital to have completed the circle of stars. which is letters recieved about me from doctors, coworkers or patients. I was very honored to be told this.was really surprised because the DON,CEO, nurse educator and my nurse manager were here to tell be about it and give me my new circle of stars badge, they waited here for me to come on shift so i would be surprised.

boy was I!!

as far as my PRN job, I will give it a try the manager promises me it will be different and that the problems i had were addressed.

i feel much more refreshed and like my old self now, am glad to be back at work. the patients and their problems are the same. and i know bad births are going to happen. i tend to take them personally and need to learn how to seperate from it a little.

thanks for all the support I am lucky to have so many friends here!

thanks HOLLY I will see you next week :)
