Published

Hi I was trying to see whose all applying to HCC for Spring 2021. I couldn't apply for fall because I needed Micro.

That's was my main question, I figured that the main ones on the to-do list were the most important, but I just wanted clarification.

I have been reading so much contradicting information on whether we are accepted into the program or not. Some people from fall admissions said that even though we got the letter of intent and completed the castle branch items we could still be denied... what is everyone's opinion on this?

I really hope we all get accepted after having completed the branch items!

I definitely understand your frustration. Your Hep B should have Positive/immune results for sure! I thought the letter of intent meant we were accepted as well but I asked one of the directors and she said EVERYONE that applies and meets the minimum requirements received a letter of intent *Sad Face*

@MaleNurse1218

Wow.. thanks for letting me/us all know. The way in which they go about this is so wrong... like do they not realize that completing the Castle Branch items costs a lot of money and then you may or may not get in... this should definitely be in bold letters in the letter of intent.

But thanks for letting me know, now I can prepare for a possible denial letter and figure out my next plan.

Yup its a horrible process for example if 500 students apply and they accept 50 that's 450 people that just wasted time and money!! Here is the email I received when I asked about the letter of intent

Hello Paul,

The letter of Intent is one of the initial step to complete for admission process and not meaning for final acceptance. The letter of intent goes to all applicant whose application become academically qualified for the program and asked to proceed further for completing other pending requirement. If you have any questions regarding program requirements or process please contact program advisor

Ha, it's such a vague e-mail!

Like c'mon man, did the people that receive the letter get picked by the admissions board or just like you said, all 450 people who applied and took pre-reqs and the HESI.

I'm glad someone is responding to your e-mails.

Most schools require these steps AFTER you're accepted. Which is what caused the confusion but, let's remain positive I hope and pray we all get in *Fingers Crossed*

If we knew the average scores of the HESI/GPA of those that have applied. That would certainly help determine the competition as well. I'll try to reach out to them and see if I can find this information out.

@MaleNurse1218 Thanks a bunch! I'll try to stay positive.

A student posted on the 2020 Fall forum that an advisor said most who get in have a 60 or more on the rubric.

It makes more sense to have these done before hand, otherwise students would be accepted and not be able to get shots done or fail their background check, then spots are wasted in the application process, doing all this beforehand is more efficient for them, and it doesn’t effect us regardless if you’re applying to other schools as well cause all of this is required no matter what

Does anyone know if you get any credit for having a bachelors degree?

Hi everyone, I too applied for the fall 2020 cohort and it was so confusing and stressful for everyone who applied. I was actually told by an advisor that If you receive a letter of intent you’re for sure getting in to the program as long as you complete your requirements by the due date.However, this turned out to be totally incorrect. They should really remove the part at the bottom that says “congratulations on your acceptance into this competitive program” LOL cause a lot of us thought we were in but weren’t. Those of you talking about your “points” are these found on your application somewhere? I’d like to figure out what my points are. Goood luck to everyone.

@Lola I too have a bachelors, but in the original application we filled out it didn't say anything about it adding points to the rubric. But maybe it will look better in the eyes of the admission committee.

 I applied to the Lone Star ADN and the committee stuck religiously the the rubric (HESI, english1, AP1) only.. I knew someone on the committee board as well (I did not get in).

So I'm not holding my breath that it'll help us get an edge.

@TwinLoves2020 In your original application that you filled out where you had to input all your grades for each class is the rubric. You can still access your application. On the very bottom of the rubric/webpage it has a %.

HCC Sent you an email (back in August) saying like here's a link to your application. To find this email I typed in my email search "coleman" and it came up.

@SB_Hopefull

awesome thanks so much I found it.
