Hope everyone did well the first semester; 4 more to go... ughhhhh!

I got my Pedi books today at Majors. I bought all 3 books on the list. I don't even think they are all necessary but whatever I bought them anyway. Its a pretty small book compared to our Foundations book. I wonder why pedi is soo hard to begin with? BC of the 8 weeks? I hear about 25% pass! That is crazy.

How much were the pedi's book at Majors?

The total came out to $130 or so.

Ok thanks!!! :)

Is anyone nervous about Pedi or am I the only one...........

I am a little nervous just because the class is so intense. Peds is so much info all crammed in 8 weeks. Finals are on week 8 so its really 7 weeks!!!! BUT just stay focused, positive attitude (most importantly), and manage your time (I'd say hit the books every single day)- you will be fine. Simple as that. My friend worked during Peds and did just fine. :) I am excited and nervous!

I got the previous edition's books on Amazon. There is little difference between the two editions, and I got everything on the list for $100.

I've heard that a big part of Pedi is the childhood diseases which you're expected to know inside-out. I think keeping ahead of the reading is the best strategy. I'll start reading as soon as my books arrive.

I believe the registration slips will be available on Jan 12.

I hope you all enjoy your break :)

Anyone start reading yet?

I started reading the Pediatric text and I tried to register my book on the evolve/elsevier site to read it on-line and it looks like you have to buy an access/redemption code to have an electronic version available.

Is that right or am I blind? :banghead:

I haven't tried signing up on evolve yet, but I did start reading a little. I am have been so busy with the holidays but starting tomorrow I def. am!

I've only gotten through two chapters- those were fairly short. I would love to get ten chapters out of the way before classes start.

Also, I called HCC to see about registering and they told me to call back on Wednesday, 01/07/2009 to see if they have information and then that we would have to go in and sign the forms for the classes.....

For pedi did you all get the 7th edition or the 8th edition Wong's textbook?

I called like 4x this morning and no answer up there! UGHHH Anyone heard anything new yet?

i bought the 8th ed... I dont thin there is much of a difference though. I bought the whole package at majors just bc the deal was pretty good. I did order the clinical companion (different from the clinical manual; pocket size and convenient for clinicals) earlier this week- I found it pretty cheap online! Majors had it for $30 or so.

I am trying to read but I cannot focus...anyone having this issue? The break is too long and too good :)
