Anyone applying to Houston Community College for the fall? I signed up today for the HESI. I am scheduled to take it on 3/29. If I do well, they will place me into the summer pharmacology course. I am a little nervous. I would love to hear from any students that are in the program. Any tips on the HESI & the Pharm. class would be helpful! The thought of it... ahhh it boggles my mind! LOL
Thanks!
Chaos,
I think it was really about a lack of time.
We were all told that letters would be going out the week after the second exam and math exam.
Then it turned out that for some reason they were waiting until after the entire course was finished to send out letters.
Now, since they've waited until the last minute, they're rushing to get it done.
I completely agree with you on the frustration, though.
I personally don't like the giant list idea because the actual information packet is what I would like to see so I can know exactly what's going on. A list tells you yes/no you are accepted/not accepted. The packet tells you all of the details.
Hey you guys have you all been able to at least do the criminal background check or do you have to wait for acceptance?
From what I understand, you pay $39 cash at orientation and HCC performs the background check for you.
The physical is another story. A form is provided by HCC (I'm sure because they are interested in your ability to perform specific tasks. Another local nursing school asks that you be able to lift 35 lbs and pull 100, walk 50 stairs, among other things). Your health care provider fills the provided form out based on your reasonable ability to meet the criteria outlined on the form.

Well I went to the orientation last month and we did a drug screening there for $39 and they had us do our background check online which was $45 so I guess they might just give you all the info online don't know but I know it does take about a week or two to get the results from the background check place and it will go straight to HCC.
check your inbox folks!!!!

pretty limited information, but hey, at least you know you're in!
by the way, the "letters" lol are going out in alphabetical order. so if you're name starts with a z then you'll be one of the last ones to receive one....the letter i got was sent out with last names a-e (i'm a c)

I love inconsistency...which works out good, because ol HCC seems to be jam-packed with it.
I'm sure that the nursing office didn't feel like "physically" sending out 100+ acceptance letters, so they decided on e-mails. THEN someone said "That sure is a lot of e-mails to type...I might get carpal tunnels....I think I'll just slap the accepted students names on webct. Yes, I like that idea.....minimum output while still getting the job done. AND THIS WAY, my work won't eat into my weekend!!!"
