Anyone applying to Houston Community College for the fall? I signed up today for the HESI. I am scheduled to take it on 3/29. If I do well, they will place me into the summer pharmacology course. I am a little nervous. I would love to hear from any students that are in the program. Any tips on the HESI & the Pharm. class would be helpful! The thought of it... ahhh it boggles my mind! LOL
Thanks!
hi everyone,
been a few days since i last checked in,
i know most of you has gotten the book , anyway, just to remind everyone that we need to read chapters 1,5 and 23 of the Fundamentals of Nursing text.
i know your orientation will be next week, but just to give you some pre orientation orientation (does that makes sense?!)
we will have a dosage calculations test on September 5th.
i don't know if they will stick to the schedule that they gave us form the first orientation but just to give you some overview...
Aug. 25- Class orientation
Aug. 26- First lecture
Read Ch. 1. 5 and 23
Aug. 27- 7am Lab 3rd Floor
Aug. 28- 7am Vital Signs, BP, pain assessment etc...
Sept. 5- Math test
that is primarily for people in the Day Class Schedule, i am not sure about the evening class, they have their own.
anyway, just update us if there are some changes.
see you guys really soon:D i can't wait:p
won't it be nice if all the people here in our thread will be in the same clinical group? that will be fun because at least we know that we are a focused group and we want to stay on top of our studies. and we are all helpful and united
Ms. Wooten said that clinical groups are determined when students are enrolling. A student will most likely be in the same clinical group if they enroll at the same time.
maybe I'm just being to mundane about things, but clinical group matters to me because I'm very nervous about being on the floor and don't know anything:bluecry1:
Ah, my reaction to this really shows me how desperate for knowledge I am about the next steps!!I have some rubbish international student health insurance, so I'm wondering if anyone has any advice as to where to get all this done? My medical records are all in New Zealand so I'm going to need titers. I was thinking about going to one of those memorial hermann neighborhood clinics. I got my Hep B titer there and although it was expensive, at least I didn't have to pay for a consultation with a Dr.
I know that a few local HEB's have a clinic in their stores. They are called Redi-Clinics I believe. I would try calling them.
Also, my gf called mary today... she told her that letters will be mailed out this afternoon :)
Just so everyone knows, the Redi-Clinics in H-E-B's do provide most of the services you would need, but the Walgreens on W. Gray (and I'm sure others) also now (it's new) have similar clinics and their prices are MUCH cheaper.
For example, (I know it's too late if you haven't already started), but Walgreen's price for the each HepB vaccination is $65 whereas Redi-Clinic charges over $100.
Just trying to save people money!
There is also a clinic off Harwin that I went to for my last hep b shot and it was only $35 per dose it is called Personal Lab Results and the number is 713 974-1294. I think the physical is only $35 but they are very reasonable just make sure you tell them that you are a student at HCC and what program you will be attending.
I emailed Ms. Mary Clark bc I had a few questions. She did inform me that as of right now she is going through about 200 files from students who passed pharm this summer. She said she got the grades today!!!! That does make sense since she was off yesterday.
Any thoughts now? This kind of changes everything bc I honestly didnt think that many students passed this summer. I was wayyy off.
