Has anyone gotten any updates since this job application opened Jan 2024? I haven't gotten any other than my app saying "under consideration" when checking my HCA portal. Any previous cohorts know what the timeline will likely be like if the cohort begins April 2024?

No offense, but why would you want to work for them? There is a lot of information on this site itself about the horrible issues with this company.
New grad! LOL

People are actually giving you very good advice to avoid HCA. Their StaRN program in nothing more than indentured servitude. You will regret ever going to work for them and they will quite literally own you before you are free of them. Better to take a new grad program that's harder to get into. Just look type HCA StaRN into the serach field and you will see.

Hi nurs19g, BSN, RN! I also applied for both regional and good sam postings in January. To answer your question, no word from either hospitals yet. I think other nurses forget how hard it is to get your foot in the door when it comes to being a new grad. Competition is definitely tough out there and ANY experience using your license is hard to come by, especially acute care experience. I have heard from a previous instructor who currently works for regional that they will start reaching out to applicants soon (hopefully this coming week) but with HCA, I have heard of last minute call backs and interviews. Please keep me posted and I will let you know if I hear anything about my application as well. Thank you for starting this thread!

I know only too well how hard and competitive getting into a good hospital in but this forum alone is full of HCA horror stories of people who are desperate to get out of their contracts or those who simply walk away with thousands in debt (and HCA is aggressive in collecting that debt.)
If you decide to go forward you have been warned.
Thank you for the warning. I have a few new grad staRN friends that work there (got hired recently) and asked about the contract. None of them recalls any. I also saw an article about HCA ending their 2 year contract commitment for new grads in May 2023. Honestly not worried. Thanks for the ray of sunshine though.

Your sarcasm astounds. We are just trying to give you advice. " Seeing an article" is not good research. Even if HCA no longer requires a contract, .they will have plenty of other ways to use you.

I know but this is a pattern for advice seekers. Fitst ask for advice. Then get upset when the advice is not what they were looking for. Then get sarcastic as well.
On another note I did read somewhere that California courts ruled that HCA StaRN contracts and others like it are illegal in California so maybe the Hospital in San Jose isn't using it anymore. Still is doesn't make HCA any better to work for.
