Having one of those days

So today turned out to be one of those days. I'm bummed, got turned down for another job. I know new grad whinning about not being able to find a job, but I needed some place to vent my feelings. It hurts, and some days I think it is me, there must be something wrong with me, or i wouldn't be turned down so many times. Does anyone else feel this way?

yes! just last week!!! I was offer a position then it was rescinded... :(

It's not you, it's the economy. The new grad market is practically nonexistent in most places so don't beat yourself up. Keep on sending resumes, calling HR to request one on one meetings, and put on a smile. In order to beef up your resume try volunteering at a LTC facility or hospital and hopefully in will turn into something better for you or get you an "in" with somebody. I know it's hard and frustrating but something will turn up eventually. Good luck to you and i hope it all works out!

I have those days too, it gets harder and harder to stay positive....I just want to scream everytime I see experience this....experience that.....it does hurt, but its not you. Just know there are others out there in the same situation as you...

I feel the exact same way every time I get one of those lovely rejection e-mails. If I'm really lucky I get two or three in one day. I tell myself it's good that they at least send an e-mail instead of just ignoring my application and leaving me to wonder what my status is, but the rejections are still extremely painful for me. Quite a blow to the self esteem, isn't it? Ah well...something will come through eventually, right?

You can beat yourself up, but that's not really useful. If you survived nursing school and passed the NCLEX, congratulations! It's not you, it's just the market is flaky right now. Some places apparently have too many nurses which just amazes me because here in NM the local ER night shift is entirely staffed by travel nurses. That hospital is less than a half mile from a community college with a long standing excellent nursing program. As a newbie you probably wont have luck getting jobs as a traveler, but can you relocate to an area begging for nurses?

I'm in the same boat, except I'm not a new grad, so I feel your pain. Have you tried picking up an ACLS certification or PALS certification? Are you mobile? If so, hospitals outside your area? If not, LTCs, LTACHs? I'm sure you have, but sometimes, new ideas help.

If you've thought of all those things, and even if you haven't, it's okay to want to feel like :sofahider for a little while. I know I certainly do. But  to you. Something will come along when you least expect it. At least, that's what the rest of the world keeps telling me. I just keep telling myself that the rest of the world can't be wrong.

i have been out of school since Dec, worked in a clinic setting for 4 years and I have my ACLS and will be signing up for nrp and pals soon. what makes it hurt so much more is that i had a lead. called the peds manager at the local hospital and she was all into me that i was basically willing to do anything to work there. she was going to call and get my resume and push it through. that was 2 weeks ago and i heard nothing so i built up my courage and called today and what do i get. so i really like you and would be great here but call back when you have peds icu experience or some hospital experience. uuuggg!!! so my question to her was how do you get hospital experience if a hospital all want you to have hospital experience. i want to give up so bad. moving might be possible but i would have to have a long talk with my to be fiance about that. it might be hard for him to get a job out of state. thanks everyone for the good words and help. im just need to whine a bit, lol.
