  1. Really? I found your posts to be very well written. Perhaps you should start working on a book!:) Hope to see you around the board, I am begining a job in a correctional facility in November....may have questions later!
  2. You are assuming that the patient wanted to know everything that was happening. You can certainly be supportive and follow the lead of the one performing the procedure. Can you imagine the concentration it takes to perform a thoracentesis? Part of the critical thinking required of a nurse includes seeing things from the perspective of others before acting. Please do not let this break your spirit, don't even take it personally. Take it for what it is, a learning experience Grasshopper. Be a little more open minded to those around you, you are part of a team now. :loveya:
  3. I have those days too, it gets harder and harder to stay positive....I just want to scream everytime I see experience this....experience that.....it does hurt, but its not you. Just know there are others out there in the same situation as you...
  4. I am really sorry to hear that. I wish you the best of luck.
  5. just took my final after the longest quarter ever!!!! now i have to wait about a week in agony for grades to post! time for prayer circle :)
  6. hi, i don't know if you're still interested; but i live in gahanna and cotc's adn in the new program. a ton of people in my cohort live in the columbus area. the first quarter clinical was in zanesville @ 7:00 am, but i was able to carpool with a group of 4. i have had clinicals at dr. 's west, mt. carmel west, children's, and 2 rotations in newark. as for class, we usually have class 2 days a week and then a clinical day. you can search the class schedules on the website to get an idea of what you would be in for. i have enjoyed the program so far, the drive hasn't been that bad. it's a means to an end for me, it's what i want to do. i wouldn't have gotten into cscc until this fall, when i am starting my 4th quarter at cotc. hope this helps!
  7. I am @ COTC which I was dead set against. However, I am starting my 4TH quarter, where I was waitlisted at CSCC and would just be starting my 1st quarter. COTC has been great, half the class lives in Columbus, some of us even carpool! We even have some clinicals in Columbus.
  8. I am in my 4th quarter of Nursing classes @ COTC and they have a new program. I took anatomy, phisiology, bio, chem, human dev, small group all at CSCC. Patho and Micro are now integrated into the program so don't take them. I had to take reasoning skills and soc 101 @ COTC. You should meet with a counselor @ COTC though just to make sure you are all good.
  9. Hi! Just my 2cents, I'm with Daytonite, "don't ask, don't tell" But it does sound like you are trying to cover your bases and do this in the most organized, seamless way possible.....on another quick note, love God, love your neighbor. Do not let the ignorance of others shake your faith. whether it's Jesus, Allah, Budda. you need your faith now more than ever, (just wait til you start nursing classes!) there are churches out there who will accept you and support you, you may even find people who can help you navigate how to proceed with the school. Good luck, and God bless!
  10. Hi, You get the access codes from inside the books. (if you buy a new book, or a used one that does not have the code box scratched) I have registered my anatomy book and 2 of my nursing books (fundamentals and med-surg) they give you online access to the full text (so instead of 3 big @$$ books, i carry one laptop) it also gives you access to videos, quizzes, and skills check offs. If your instructor chooses they can also utililize "the point" as instructor giving the class access to powerpoints and expanded resources. I know some of the helpful nurses on here post links to the old website (I forget what it was called~~~the connection maybe?) it used to be free, but it changed to the point and there is restricted access. HTH.....
  11. Just saw this post; I too was rejected b/c of my NET test scores! UGH! Which is ok, b/c I am in my second quarter of the nursing program at COTC in Newark, they have a competitve entry as well but not as many people applying because they are in Newark. I am making the drive though and many of my cohort mates are from Columbus too! (sometimes we carpool) I was dead set against applying at a school in Newark, but I will be an RN before I can even get into CSCC because they let any geek off the street into their programs! Good luck to you! :)
  12. Last year I was confimation number 753!!! They put me in priority group 2! This year I was confirmation number 46....we'll see what happens. How did you do?
  13. I've heard the letters do not go out until June too.....that's when I got my rejection letter last year
  14. I agree, I have both as well and I found the HESI to be a much more valuable resource. There were no surprises, if it was on the test it was in the SG. I would HIGHLY recommend getting the HESI SG.
