  2. thanks everyone! i will say this the orientation training is kicking my butt. i am not a morning person and this is ther earliest i have been up in a long time!
  3. So after a year of crying, begging, pleading, and many many many...many job applications I nailed the dream job. Peds/PICU at the big hospital in my town. So excited! So all you new nurses out there and students keep your heads up, it will happen. you just cant give up and have to weat your fingers to the bone filling out applications.
  4. office rn in illinois $20.60 would have started at $19 but I have been at the office for a few years so for my experience they gave me a little more plus the raise i was due for at the time i got my degree
  5. point of no return, i would have never dreamed of doing that when i was a nursing student. the little stunt could have got her in a lot of trouble. what is a family member would have approched her for something beyond her scope. what is it would have been an emergency or someone from the board of the hospital came up to her. or a dr making rounds, they usually have no patience for us most of the time anyways, and she would have to talk her way out of that one. she has not earned the right to wear the coat yet anyways. and my clinical instructor would have told me the same thing. and would have removed us from the floor. she as a student should have known better.
  6. thanks everyone. so it sounds like its not going to be that hard then. i hope lol.
  7. So after 5 years of being together my boyfriend and I are getting married. So my question is I will have about 8 months after we get married until my lisence needs to be renewed. What do I do? Renew right after my name change, work under my maiden name until the time I need to renew it? Can I even do that?
  8. "the nurse who loved me" covered by a perfect circle, originally by failure
  9. hahaha thats a good one!
  10. i have been out of school since Dec, worked in a clinic setting for 4 years and I have my ACLS and will be signing up for nrp and pals soon. what makes it hurt so much more is that i had a lead. called the peds manager at the local hospital and she was all into me that i was basically willing to do anything to work there. she was going to call and get my resume and push it through. that was 2 weeks ago and i heard nothing so i built up my courage and called today and what do i get. so i really like you and would be great here but call back when you have peds icu experience or some hospital experience. uuuggg!!! so my question to her was how do you get hospital experience if a hospital all want you to have hospital experience. i want to give up so bad. moving might be possible but i would have to have a long talk with my to be fiance about that. it might be hard for him to get a job out of state. thanks everyone for the good words and help. im just need to whine a bit, lol.
  11. So today turned out to be one of those days. I'm bummed, got turned down for another job. I know new grad whinning about not being able to find a job, but I needed some place to vent my feelings. It hurts, and some days I think it is me, there must be something wrong with me, or i wouldn't be turned down so many times. Does anyone else feel this way?
  12. im not saying i dont have a job, for i do, as an rn. i work in an office. no a license does not intitle me to a job, my work ethic and skills do. but it is hard out there and i have applied to ever job in a 6 county range, every shift every day, and still nothing. they want experience but its less time they have to spend training someone. and every nurse i talked to before i started school toldme to do it.
  13. not hiring new grads in illinois either
  14. yep sounds abouth the same as my program
  15. i know how you feel, started vacation last weekend and on Sunday got an email stating the same thing. I was bummed for the first few days of my vacation.
