I've never posted on here before but would like your opinions. How have you handled difficult patients who are nurses? I've had one ask me off the wall questions to see if I get thrown off and is extra scrutinizing with every task, then proceeded to complain about me to day shift.

No worries. This is why you have us old broads (I can say that ‘cuz I am one), to help you broaden your perspective and learn unexpected things. The COBs here are, well, crusty old broads (or other B-words) but even though we’re likely too dam’ old to work bedside anymore we know a thing or two because we’ve seen a thing or two, as the ad goes. We generally don’t mince words but not a one of us is mean-spirited. Don’t ever be afraid to ask. Someday you’ll be … one of us.
The term is "Crusty Old Bats" as I recall, and I am proud to be one. As far as too damn old to work bedside, I'm still at the bedside, because that's where I want to be. Sadly, though, I think the attitude that we're irrelevant and disposable because we are now officially old is far more prevalent than it used to be.

Just a random aside. I found out that a patient I nursed in acute pysch about three years ago is now halfway through their nursing program.
Regardless of my feelings about nursing it fills me with an immense sense of happyness when patients make it
