Have a laugh at my expense!

I'm sure many of you here can relate to this! I thought I'd share how my domestic life has gone downhill since starting nursing school. Hey, if I don't laugh about it, I'll cry!

--I am so far behind on my laundry. Way beyond what the hampers can hold. I pick my clothes out of the mountain of clean clothes piled up on the loveseat in my living room. The other day, I bought my husband a new package of underwear because I couldn't even find any of his dirty ones to throw in the washer.

--I'm pretty sure I haven't dusted since January. My kids draw smiley faces in the dust collected on top of the end tables.

--I can count on one hand the number of from-scratch dinners I have made in the last month.

--My dear husband is very supportive and tries his best to help around the house and with the kids, but he's a bit lacking in some departments. After clinicals, I went to pick up my son at my mom's yesterday. He was wearing inside-out sweatpants and a turtleneck. Did I mention it was 80 degrees outside?

Ok -- you made me laugh. Sounds like an average week for many of us -- especially when we work alot of hours. And still ... life goes on ... messy house or not ... home cooked meals or not.

LOL!! :chuckle Not laughing at you - just laughing with you! You sound exactly like me!! Laundry & dishes piled to the ceiling -- my kids wondering who that "strange" woman is in their mom's bedroom that's always buried in her books!! One tip I've found that works great for us -- buy the paper plates & plastic cups/silverware!!! It's so much easier to throw away then try to make time to wash them!! Hang in there though! We'll get thru it!

Someone sent this little poem to me when I first started nursing school & I just loved it, so I'll share it with you! Take care & good luck in school!

Dust if you Must

But wouldn't it be better to paint a picture,

or write a letter, bake a cake,

or plant a seed.

Ponder the difference between want and need.

Dust if you must.

But there is not much time,

with rivers to swim and mountains to climb!

Music to hear, and books to read,

friends to cherish and life to lead.

Dust if you must.

But the world's out there with the sun in your eyes,

the wind in your hair, a flutter of snow,

a shower of rain.

This day will not come round again.

Dust if you must.

But bear in mind, old age will come

and it's not kind. And when you go, and

go you must, you, yourself,

will make more dust.

Remember, a house becomes a home when you can write

"I love you" on the furniture. ;)

Laughing with you too---my house the same except I do scratch cooking at least 3-4 x week and always on weekend have full family dinner. All due to working FT now in mgmt--- many late nights getting computer database up and running properly salong with Hippa, Hippa, Hippa AND JCAHO!

Saw that poem before and have adopted it as my lifestyle instead of beating my head into the wall. Need to print this verson out for my refrigerator.

what is considered "scratch cooking"? To me, hamburger helper is scratch cooking and Lipton noodles, too. :)I cook every night, but always quick and easy and probably not good on the arteries.

I feel that you just described my life.....

Hubby sounds like a basket case. Laundry basket that is. Is he on his death bed that he can't even try to do laundry? I bet he could figure out how to hold a dust cloth and run it over the tops of the furniture. Infact I bet he is smart enough to convince the kids that it is just as much fun to "erase" picture they draw with a dust cloth as it is to draw then.

Oh, yea forgive me. I have these weird fantasies at times where I think there is hope for our other halves.

Ack, I hear ya. I do laundry once a week (with 5 of us in the house that tends to pile up quickly and the hamper overflows) and my family gets a home-cooked meal maybe 3 times a week if they're lucky. God bless the Crock Pot.

Dusting and heavy cleaning gets done once a week as well unless my allergies start going haywire then it gets done twice. LOL

It makes me feel like part of a club or something hearing everyone talk about the same issues at home!:roll

My concept of a home-made meal these days is a tv-dinner for family...unless I get off early.....

I am going to have hubby read this thread! lol Just so he knows that i'm not trying to fool him when I say the next 5 years are going to be hell!! lol

At least I can take comfort in knowing that i'm not the only one!

Hugs to you!

rnmi, you just described my house. Today I'm going to attempt to tackle the mess. And while writing "I love you" in the dust is cute, I now have new dust covering the writing. It's just not so cute anymore! :chuckle

Love this bb! So funny. lmao! Make dinner's oh one or twice a week. Other nights, my answer for "what's for dinner?" is whatever you wanna make honey". hah!

TV dinners or pizza delivery at my house. As far as laundry, a couple of my kids have actually started doing their own in self defense.
