I recently did NOT show up for work - when i was scheduled to - on accident. I looked over my schedule at least 100 times, and for sure though I was supposed to work on a Friday, but I was actually scheduled to work the night before that - a Thursday. So I got a call asking where I was and ended up coming in 4 hours late. I felt like such a moron. Has anything like that happened to any of you??

Once I went in to work on my day off by mistake.

Funny...I've done that about 3 different times in my career. 1 time they let me go back home...the other 2 times I got put to work anyway.

When I was a CNA, my MIL at-the-time made out the schedule. I was a slow worker and almost too methodical to be an efficient nursing home aide so she scheduled me to work when she knew I needed those days off and I was terminated. She had always hated me and was out to get me in any way she could. And she did. Then I divorced her son. End of story.

When I first switched from night shift to day shift. I had laid down for a nap, next thing I knew I rolled over looked at the clock and it was 7, I hurriedly reach for the phone called staffing to say I was going to be late to work.. I jumped out of bed ran to the shower, jumped out. Looked out the window, grabbed another phone , called staffing. Sheepishly I said" uh so and so , its 7 pm right? She laughed and said, " I couldn't figure out why you were calling to tell me you would be late for work at 7 am. I thought you were a bit confused" I felt dang stupid. Never happened again. Fortunately I have never missed a shift I was suppose to work, Have shown up for shifts on my day off due to my own stupidity though.

I did the no call / no show things once. Another nurse needed a day off and asked me to cover her shift...I told her 'no' because I had plans...she needed the day off bad enough that she changed the schedule anyway. When they called I was 75 miles away and had been drinking some fruity fancy alcohol thing at Applebees. We both actually ended up being disciplined.
