I am new to this site and have only posted a few times. But I am really happy that I have read and re-read some of the threads because it saved me a lot of head ache and heart ache not having to deal with TCN and Rue. I recently passed micro and had read several posts that there were quite a few people that took the Excelsior practice exams and didn't do that great, but, after a lot of studying, took the "real" test and passed. My question is this...has anyone done a&p recently and had the same experience? (not doing well on the practice exams, but studying enough to take and pass the test). There is so much info to absorb and I want to make sure that I am on target but I am wondering if this is the case for anyone that has already taken and passed this section. Thanks in advance for any input.

ALL of the practice exams are like that it seems - I have never scored over the low 70's yet and I have passed all my exams up to now. I have 3 more to go and then fcca and cpne.
Thanks for this info. It is hard to not get discouraged after scoring 50's on the practice exams, but that is exactly what happened to me on the micro practice exams, then I take the test and score a B. It seems that the wording on the actual tests are a little easier to interpret. Anyway, thanks for your response.

Hi there,
I am having the exact same experience and scored even lower than you. However, I took the practice exams early so that I could use them to study with. I listen to Vangonotes everyday as well. I take Micro exam Tuesday am. Fingers crossed. Then will immediately start the same process with A & P.
It makes me feel a lot better to read the threads here and see that we all are having similar experiences.
Good Luck!!!
I took about 7 weeks to finally feel comfortable with taking the micro test. My scores were 32-49, then I took the test 2 weeks after the 49 and made a B. A&P is sooo much to absorb, but I think I am finally getting close. Good luck on Tuesday, I am sure you will do fine.

I too had the same experience with Micro. Scored a 42% on Test A and 46% on Test B. Took the exam 5/22/2014 and got a B :)! I haven't taken any of the practice exams for A&P, because it does have a lot of information. But I think that if you take the practice exams early in your studies, you can use the results to help guide you towards the areas of the exam that may need the most improvement. That's my plan. I intend on using the Excelsior College Guide and Study Group 101 notes along with the practice exams to give me focus on areas that need the most improvement. The same method work for Micro, so why not? Ultimately, do what works best for you. And may we all be successful on our path the registered nursing.
I passed Micro after all! Whew! I am taking the A & P exam this coming Thursday on the June 05. I am a bit worried, but I have used Vango notes, Lisa Arrends study guide off E bay and made a ton of notecards from the practice exam, which I took before I even started studying. ( scores were horrid too ) But I think its good to get a feel for the actual exam early on.
So, good luck to you on A & P. I know you will do well if you passed Micro.
Just passed a& p. after 5 weeks of studying. That was a challenging test. Now finishing up human growth and development. Then onward and upward. Glad that is done!!!
Congratulations nmanson239 :). I just took A&P Practice Exam A. Got myself a 48/100. I didn't expect to do any better than that, after all I didn't read through all the material before I took the exam. I was just getting frustrated with trying to keep on track with the timeline I have in place. At least now I can reassess what areas I still need to improve on before I take exam B, with plenty of time to spare. I did do fairly well on the areas I didn't even review, which is good. :)

Congrats on your success with the exams! Did you only use study group 101 for all your exams? And how long did you study for each exam? I am preparing for Microbiology and LIFESPAN DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY and I need some pointers. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Congrats :-)
Rita007 So far, I have only had to use Study Group 101 notes. I do have all the textbooks required for the nursing exams (purchased them before I knew about SG 101); I intend to use them as needed along with SG 101 and practice exams. After A&P it's onto all things nursing :).
