Has anyone heard from Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing for Fall of 2009?

U.S.A. Connecticut

Hi I applied to BHSN for fall of 2009 and I was wondering if anyone has been accepted yet. Good luck everyone!

Don't ever give up! I was accepted at Bridgeport and at Three Rivers this year after sitting on a wait list for 2 years here in San Diego. I accepted Bridgeport and gave up the spot at Three Rivers. I hope I've made the right choice! I'll be coming back home to CT this summer and can't wait to start classes. Does anyone have any info about the dorms? I'm hoping to stay there instead of renting an apartment.

Has anyone been taken off the waiting list yet?

I haven't heard anything. Its not even a list. All they do is keep revisiting all the qualified people whenever there is a opening. That came straight from the director. I think thats bull. How can't you have them listed best to least qualified. I find it a waste of time to keep going over the same say 50 applicants every time a slot opens up, its not efficient. I actually think the photos have a lot to do with who they take off the wait list even though its illegal to have photos to begin with.

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to say to everyone pleaseee dont get discouraged on not getting in or getting waitlisted, I know plenty of people that were waitlisted, and in that year of waiting they actually bettered their grades and got more pre-reqs out of the way. In the long run, it does help to look at some of the pros. =) But I do know people that now are in the program and were wait listed last year...

P.S- Has anyone else recieved their orientation date for the summer??? Its soo close, mine is June 17th, and their is a consisten reminder throughout the packet to "bring the checkbook" lol.

Absolutely! Don't get discouraged, I was on the waiting list last year and used this year to take every single co-requisite I could, so now all I have left to take are the main courses -- I'm wondering if that helped me get in the second time I applied.

That's pretty funny.... about the checkbook... My orientation is the 16th in the a.m. I didn't actually get my packet yet, I will pick it up tomorrow, there was an error and they mailed it to my old address. Either way, I'm so psyched to finally have some more info!

Good Luck everyone!

I have to agree with you Matt. I have called and left two messages and with the secretary and have not received a call back. I also wrote an email about three weeks ago and never received a response. Also a friend of mine who applied to BHSN did not receive a letter from them until a WEEK ago!!!! She was furious.

Anyways, Im not discouraged, I'm going to try other programs next year. Thanks for everyone's support and encouragement. Good luck to everyone!

If you emailed or called the school last month the woman who handles everything was out sick so no one was getting any replys. I spoke with her yesterday. I haven't received my orientation packet yet (hopefully tomorrow). She said they had all been mailed out last Thursday and Friday. My orientation date is the 25th of June, but I'm not going to be able to be there. I'm coming in from San Diego and can't make that date due to a prior committment so the director set up an appointment with me to go over everything. I was getting very frustrated waiting, but it looks like things are starting to come together. I actually got my financial aid things in the mail on Tuesday so hopefully thats a good sign that they are working on everything.

As far as being on the waitlist - don't give up. With the way the economy is right now you never know how many people are going to have to give up their spot. You could get a call anytime before the semester starts.

Can't wait to meet you all.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

No potentially libelous information about specific schools, instructors, or health care facilities/entities should be posted in these forums. While it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:

1. It is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. Your privacy is paramount to us.

2. While allnurses.com is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. Gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.

3. Please do not give out personal information about others. Do not name names where anyone could identify the person in any facility including your nursing programs.

Has anyone been to orientation yet?? Mine is next week and I wanna know what to expect! Other than to bring my checkbook, lol

Hi, I went to the orientation Tuesday. They give you a list of people you have to meet with, first a teacher she tells you alittle bit about the schedule for the 1st 8 week course and gives you a folder with other info. She also gives you a list of books and sends you to another girl that you can buy the books from the list is two pages and the required book packages is 545 i think, you dont have to buy it there but you can right then. Then some students from the second year are around one gives you uniforms to try on in the bathroom i bought two shirts and two pants and a labcoat. i think it was about 115. Then the other students are in a room selling raffle tickets (a dollar), a stethoscope 35ish, clipboard 17 , and sweatshirts or sweatpants 30ish if you want to buy them there you can by as much or as little as you want. you also meet with a secretary that gets your email and address, the admissions that tells you alittle more and gives you a pin number and some scantrons for fire safety or something tests. You also meet with someone that goes over your credits. You then get a tour of the school but not the hospital and then your on your way. I dont think i forgot anything it was really quick, everyone was really nice and laid back and answered any questions you have. I spent an hour and a half there. I think that should give you a good overview, its late and im tired so sorry if i sound monotone or the grammers off. It was cool, made me excited to start.

I went tuesday as well got about the same experience. They will also assign you an advisor when you get there, who will be your main contact throughout school. Everyone was very friendly, so if anyone is worried or stressed don't bother. The current students are real helpful too and will provide you with a little FAQ that they came up with. Helped to answer some questions like what else should we get before we start up in the fall.

If anyone is wondering about the schedule, the first 8 weeks will comprise of Tuesday long day lectures, Wednesday labs (2 hours time depends on group your placed in), and either a Thursday or Friday clinical day (also dependent on group). Eventually will we also pick up clinicals on Thursday and Friday as we progress. Also a mandatory practice lab that is scheduled on a random monday within the first 8 weeks. I think that about covers it. Good luck at orientation.

Did anyone get final answer from waiting list? Did anyone got accepted after that?
