Has anyone else applied to Jefferson's FACT program?

Does anyone that is currently in the program or that has grauduated from the program know the end date? I have a few weddings in 2012 and one is away in mexico at the end of May and I was just curious to see the graduation date (or round about) to see if attending is a possibility~! Also, are there any breaks/time off during the program. (I was thinking NO since its accelerated!)

Gianna, I'm not in the program yet - starting in May - but they haven't posted the calendar yet. But, looking at the calendar for the last couple of years, looks like our last exams are Saturday May 5 with Commencement likely to be Tuesday May 22. In fact, since I've been trying to work out vacation schedules myself, this is my estimate for the whole year: (Just don't hold me it if they do something different!)

SUMMER SESSION - 1st Session (5 Weeks) 2011

Classes begin 5/16, Mon.

Drop/Add Period ends 5/24, Tue.

Holiday, Memorial Day 5/30, Mon.

Last date to withdraw with a grade of “W” 5/31, Tue.

Fourth of July7/4, Mon.

Classes end 8/12, Fri

Final Examinations Begin 8/15, Mon.

Final Examinations End 8/16, Tue.

Thanks Nancy! I was thinking along the same lines. I want to try and get an early jump on everything; books, uniforms, time off etc...but from the looks of previous posts (years back) I am not sure when we find out information! It will be here before we know it! :uhoh3:

Hi! I am interested in this program. What are the average grades of accepted applicants? I have my bachelors already with a 3.2 GPA. I am currently getting an A in anatomy and physiology. I just have microbiology left to take. I have a few years experience as an EMT. What are my chances?

I think you have a good chance. They want people with grades in that range, especially if they're improving, like yours are! And your EMT training is a help. I'd say, go for it.

I think your chances are pretty good, especially with the EMT experience. The only problem is that if you are applying for this year's class, they may be full already. Keep up the "A"s. :)

Get your application in as early as possible. Start watching the website around the end of August, beginning of September, and be ready to go! :)

Hi! I'm currently in the program now. Do not expect for them to give you a full-year calendar on your first day or during your first month. In fact, don't expect it ever. At one point, they were giving us monthly calendars but then that stopped. One reason for this is that everything is subject to change. Also, know that your 'breaks' are not really breaks, except for the two-week summer break you will get in August. You will most likely be studying for exams during your break that are planned for as soon as you get back, which is what happened to us recently with our winter break.

Due to the structure of the program, it's really hard to schedule anything extraneous. They remind us constantly that by being in the program we have agreed to give up one year of our life...consequently, they will not make any changes to accommodate you unless there was an emergency. Just an FYI. However, it looks as though you should be ok since the wedding you need to attend will be held at the end of May and your grad date is the 22nd.
