  1. Any idea when the bonuses will return?
  2. Hi. I am a critical care nurse. I am interested in joining the army reserves. I met with a recruiter this week who said they are currently offering no benefits to nurses. On the website it says $50,000 loan repayment and $30,000 of possible sign on bonuses. Is it possible to get those rewards? I want to join either way but it would be a definite bonus to me if those are available. Thanks.
  3. I don't think it's legal to run a credit check on a pt without their consent??

Just to play devil's advocate here but if you are trained to do something and don't, doesn't that open you up to possible litigation? The patient or family can say you could have done more to save them but did not.

Ok thanks! I know its way outside my scope of practice for now. Do you happen to know NJ policy for those situations. I know the emphasis is on BVM ventilation and good CPR, but I am curious as to what is allowed.
  6. Hi! I was curious as to the rules pertaining to nurses and utilizing advanced airways. Say its a busy night and you have no backup and your patient is coding. Are you allowed to use endotracheal intubation, combitube, king airway, LMA, etc? Is there a special class for that? Thanks!

Hi! I am normally not a big fan of online classes but I loved the ACLS heartcode online. I did my recert with it this year and found it to be very useful. After completing ten cases and the written test you have to go to an instructor and practice a megacode in person. The card looks absolutely the same. Even after you finish the class you can still use the program to refresh your skills and practice whenever you want. It gives you feedback as well.
  8. Also you can expect an order to administer digibind which is the antidote for that situation.
  9. Hi! I got my bachelors in psychology and am currently in a 2nd degree BSN program. I took a lot of science classes at a community college over the years and was trying to see how close I am to being granted an associates in biology from there. My transcript is being reviewed at the moment. How much or any of a boost would getting an associates in biology add to my resume for when I finish nursing school and am applying for a job? If I do end up being a class short should I take that extra class during my summer off when I am trying to get a job in a hospital as well? Thank you!
  10. Thank you very much!
  11. EMT cannot give Haldol. The only medications EMT-B are allowed to administer or assist with are oxygen, nitro, epi-pen, albuterol inhaler, activated charcoal, and oral glucose. I am not sure if paramedics carry haldol. I have never seen them actually administer it in the field before. Paramedics have medical control they can call for advice and permission to give certain drugs not in their normal standing orders. They don't need to call for things such as giving epi or lidocaine in a code. Where I am paramedics can do RSI. By the way the ACLS comment on unstable patients getting electricity is hilarious.
  12. Hi! I was wondering does anyone have a list to the names of every acute care NP program in the United States? Thank you!
