I applied for the nursing program Jan 2011 and a little nervous because I only have 9 points with a 3.2 GPA. Anyone else applied?

Will be mailing my application off Thursday and I have 10 points and a GPA of 3.49. I was told that they normally get to the mid 9's. I applied about 3 years ago with 9 points and did not get chosen. Guess it all depends on how many apply. That being said, "Goodluck". I know how important it is. God willing we will both get the good news we want!
Thanks for the encouragement. I spoke with someone at TVCC and I ask him do I have a chance getting and he stated this year Fall 2011 nursing they are going to accept more people and I definitely have a chance of getting in. I am just go put it in GOD hands and he will bless both of us to get accepted. Hopefully I get a chance to meet you once were in. Good luck and I will be praying for us!:)
Oh! We should keep in touch on here, so I will be checking back in soon.

I sent my application on the 6th of this month. I called ******* at the school and he said that it looks as if they are going to have more applications this year than any other year. He said he thought they may hit 400 apps this year.
Wonnica, I have a friend who got in this past fall with 9 points, she was pretty far down on the wait list, but she still got in - she found out the week before classes started.
Good luck - hopefully the wait doesn't drive us nuts!!!
txgrl502,
What was her GPA? This reason I dont have 10 point is because I am taking my last pre req micro now and so I was left with 9 points for the program. But I really hope I do get in. Are you also pursuing your BSN? I am taking classes for my BSN with my micorbiology classes now because I hear alot people say that you would most likely get hired in nursing if you have a BSN. I dont know how true that is. But we should all keep in touch on here and good luck to you and I will be praying for us. :)
I don't remember her exact GPA, but it was kinda low. I plan on doing BSN too, maybe Masters. I am taking algebra, government 2, history 2, and technical writing. I am scared of algebra - lol, I am not so great at math. I will keep watch on this thread and post if I hear anything.

Just out of curiosity, how many do they normally accept? I'm in the area and am planning to apply there next year. I thought I had a good chance, should have 10-11 points but wow, 400 apps...that's way more than I thought would be applying to this rural school. My reqs are not from there, so I don't get that point for credits there and I haven't taken honors classes, so don't get that either. Hopefully, I can keep my GPA up next semester (haven't taken micro yet, so we will see), and I can get 11 points, and hopefully they don't change requirements before then.
Good luck to you all. Hope you get good news soon.
Ob,
In the past, 10+ I think has pretty much gotten in. I was talking to a friend yesterday, and she said that in the past, there have been very few 12's and 13's. If you take micro in Terrell, the professor is awesome!! I :redbeathe her!!
On the acceptance numbers, everyone hears different things, I heard around 120 last year - A few more than usual. I also heard they were going to take more this fall, but that's all hearsay. Even IF there are 400+ applicants, that does not mean they all have 9+ points. Some will apply with way less than 9, you can apply if you have taken A&P 1, one of the Psych classes and the Hesi A2.
Kaufman campus maybe outside of the metroplex, but if you think about it, it is only 10-15 minutes from the Dallas county line. Also, I know of people who drive 45 minutes to an hour to go there. Once you get out of Dallas county, there are not many colleges out east except maybe Tyler or Navarro county.
Also, if you register for classes at Terrell, ask the counselors about Honors, there are not many professors that offer it. I took one last semester, and I am taking one now. They are fun!
txgrl1502- Thanks for the info. You are right about how close Dallas is, guess I never thought about it that way. Just out of curiosity, what is it like to take an honors course? I did take some classes there about 12 years ago but basically walked away with remedial math done and dropped psych and a computer class. I've got it together now but I'm taking them with Paris this time. Plan to apply to both places.
You know, I drove out to Kaufman, just to check out the drive, a couple of times and I was surprised at how small the building is. It made me wonder how many people they could accept with the other programs they have going on but I guess maybe the classes are staggered? I know a lady who got her RN there a couple of years ago and she loved the school.
I haven't taken the HESI. Need to study for that and take it soon, in case I want to retake it. How was it when you took it?
I loved Honors, it's not really hard just extra work. If you look on the TVCC website it's called REACH. I think they have a new building in the works for Kaufman, but I don't think they are going to start building for a while. If you pass by during the day there are cars parked on the street.
The Hesi was not that bad, the math had alot of fractions and metric conversions. I have heard the study guide is helpful.
