Hard to find a job in L.A. as a new LVN

U.S.A. California

Hello everyone,

I'm finding it very hard to find a job in the los angeles. Most places want you to have a year experience already having worked as an LVN. How am I supposed to get experience if no one is willing to hire new grads? I'm starting to get really discouraged because it's been a month now. I never thought it would be this hard to find a job.

Girl i am with you!!!! I've had my license over a month now...and so far nothing...the only lucky people who found jobs from my class had family connections and/or have gotten promoted at their current jobs :( some have moved out of state...

i am beginning to think maybe i should move out of state! its so hard in sothern california! i heard that home health agencies are asking for one year experience because the state is making them...this has just started to go into effect in the last 3 months or so.. I had a friend who was working in home health who had spoken with her employer about hiring me as soon as i get my license...(she herself has started as a new LVN grad in 2008) but literally by the time i got my license, the rules have changed, and they now only hire lVNs with 1 year experience...and they want to see you W2s as proof, can you believe it!!!!

Hi

I have been looking for an LVN job and they all want nurses with at least 1 year of experience. For those nurses who went out of state to get the job, what state did you go to and what are the process that you made. I am from San Francisco bay area and it's so hard to land a job without experience. Any advice?

Thanks.

I moved to North Carolina. I was only able to do so because I have a family member that moved there. I stayed with him while job hunting. Shockingly, I had a job within a week. I had to either move where I could find work or file BK.

I moved to Texas five years ago and found an LVN job the day after I received my temporary license. However, I am stuck for now. While I want to return to California, I must remain in Texas if I wish to be employed.
