  1. thank you...but i really feel like i failed...how long did you have to wait to see your name on the board????
  2. hey Kailyn...did you ever found out if you passed or not? I took NCLEX-RN on Sat...got a good pop, but its already monday and my name is still not there!!! I am worried....everyone else from my class found out so fast!!! i just wonder if its possible to get the good pop up and still fail...????
  3. thanks for the warning...wow...i haven't really thought about other people working off my license. and you are right...it is a type of living safeway house....i really didn't think i would be doing this after graduating, but its so hard to find any work for new grads right now, i feel like some companies are taking advantage of this situation by offering low pay and little experience..
  4. Hello fellow nurses! I am a new grad LVN, and have recently been interviewed for a position at a Sober Living House... I was told that the compensation/benefits could not be discussed till my second interview, which I am going to go to next week..I was just wondering if any of you know how much I can expect? I am desperate for experience, but also need to be making money! LOL thanks, any help is appreciated! and by the way...weird thing...I was told that this was mostly a desk job, and my prime responsibility is to be ordering meds from the pharmacy, then packaging...then someone else picks them up and destributes to different 'houses'...where 'parent of the house' passes them out to clients... i was a little surprised that i woldn't be interacting with patients that much... and no charting! weird...
  5. Girl i am with you!!!! I've had my license over a month now...and so far nothing...the only lucky people who found jobs from my class had family connections and/or have gotten promoted at their current jobs some have moved out of state... i am beginning to think maybe i should move out of state! its so hard in sothern california! i heard that home health agencies are asking for one year experience because the state is making them...this has just started to go into effect in the last 3 months or so.. I had a friend who was working in home health who had spoken with her employer about hiring me as soon as i get my license...(she herself has started as a new LVN grad in 2008) but literally by the time i got my license, the rules have changed, and they now only hire lVNs with 1 year experience...and they want to see you W2s as proof, can you believe it!!!!
  6. I wish I got a part-time CNA job at a hospital while I was in school...Hospitals are trying to hire LVNs and RNs from within, and its so hard to find jobs for new grads in south california...I am even considering moving out of state...
  7. Are you currently in the VN program? Your instructor may try to be encouraging by giving you options...but trust me....its very hard for new grads right now..i don't know what she told you about permits..but you have to think for yourself...what legible company will hire you without a license???? i was just saying that once you are done with VN program...licensing takes a long time...this is something new, and hopefully will change in the near future...license for VNs in california takes a very long time because of the budget cuts, increased number of applicants and furlow days...if your criminal record is spotlessly clean...the soonest you will get your license is 3months post graduation...if you have even one traffic ticket over $300 it will take anywhere from 4-6months! some of my classmates are still waiting... out of 32 people who graduated with me 12 are working...out of those 12 four moved out of state, and other's got hired through family connections... but hey...if you have connections, you will be fine... I tried to build my connections during my clinicals, but so far, nothing came of them...My best bet right now is to hopefully get hired at this nursing home in long beach...(this opportunity was offered to me from a friend who knew somebody there...) so we'll see what happens...as you can see I am looking for anything...not just some fancy hospital job :) we'll see what happens, I'll keep everyone posted. What makes me mad is that on some job postings it states 1 year experience prefferred, but then you fill out an aplication and they deny you based on experience...so you call HR and speak to the DON, and she states that it was an error...1 year experience is not prefferred its required!!!!!
  8. I have graduated and have my VN license from the North Orange County ROP, and here's my advise....the programs at most ROPs are awesome, the teachers are great...given all that...if you are planning to get your RN don't do it!!! I did it because i thought I could get into RN bridge program faster, but its going to end up being way longer...I graduated from VN in Dec 2009, took my boards in March, and didn't get my VN license 'till July 2010!!! you need your license and pre-reqs to apply...Secondly, a lot of schools are changing their bridge pre-req criteria, as they are asking for entering LVNs to have one year experience!! Plus, it is so HARD to find a job as a new grad...it used to be easy, but its not the case anymore! If i had to do it over again...i would take all of my pre-reqs first, and get on the waiting list.. having your science classes will also help you get into ROP vn program, as you get extra points for them (entering ROP VN program is a point system)...so at least you can get on the waiting list. Then you can start VN program if you get accepted, because even if you do get in to the RN program prior to finishing VN, at least you will have a lot of experience, and do very well your first semmester or RN. Having said all of this...VN program is excellent for people who just want to get their VN and stop at that....you will get very good training, program is cheap and most ROP graduates have hight passing NCLEX rate... NOCROP is the best out of all of them...i think :)
  9. hi...i just got my lvn license...but i want to keep going until i get my RN. I met with College Network advisor to go over their LVN to BSN ISU (Indiana State) online program...but I am scared to do everything online... I was wondering if any of you have enrolled, or graduated from ISU online program, and can give me some solid advise...PLEASE....anyone!!!! if you know anyone who is in the program...please reply!!!
  10. Hi everyone! I promised to let you guys know if PVT worked for me...and it DiD! I took my NCLEX-PN in Anaheim, CA on April 23...got my results JUNE 18th! and I passed!!!! i have tickets, so they are still checking my background...but the worst is over, thank GOD... What a nightmare...GEEZZZ...waiting nearly killed me...lol I hope I'll be able to get a license soon.....To the rest of you living in CA...don't lose hope! if you are getting the pop up, 99% means you passed! so try to relax, results are on the way!!!
  11. When did you take your exam? i took mine April 23...still waiting for results...I just wanted to let everyone know what I heard from BVNPT...If you disclosed any tickets at all...your results are submited to the enforcement dept, and mailed approx 1 week later then normal. If your results are submited to the enforcement it means you passed!!! If you failed...your results are mailed to you right away, and don't make it to the enforcement dept...that's what the lady at BVNPT had said to me...So...for everyone who has tickets, and have taken the board week of april 23...the reason your results are taking longer is most likely d/t the fact that you passed!!!! so just relax...and dont wait by the mailbox, like i did....it will most likely come end of this week or early next week with a letter saying that your criminal background is still being reviewed...
  12. i am getting the good pop up...but i can't believe how long its taking for the results..its rediculous! i think that CA is the only state that is taking this long!!! Something should be done about it!
  13. geezzz....are you serious??? i took mine april 23rd...it will be 6 weeks this friday...guess i have to wait 7 weeks for results..i took miine at anaheim..what about you?
  14. hi...i have not received the results yet...but it hasn't been 6 weeks for me. I took mine on 4/23/2010. It is exactly 4 weeks today...but i am not holding my breath...my classmate took it the 13th and still waiting for her results! I hope that I can get mine at least by early June...I will definately let everyone know, especially if PVT still works...hehe..some people are saying it doesn't...but i am still getting the "good pop up" so i am hopeful :)
  15. you answer yes, yes, no...but that part almost doesn't matter, the point is that your name is in the system, and if you passed it should tell you to contact your board...
