So I'm a new grad struggling to get a job. Today I got a call back from one of the hospital I previously interview for and they asked me to come in for another interview (for a different position) :heartbeat Also a hospital located in other state is interested in speaking with me personally, not to mention I might get called in for an interview regarding a new residency program..so I have one upcoming interview and two potential one...this time I will make sure to prepare (last time I kind of just went in and got stuck on question-that is why I think I didnt get that job, plus the recruiter told me I didnt show enough passion for the position) So basically I want to send word of encouragement to all the new struggling grads, keep applying, dont get discouraged by rejection, just keep doing your thing and things will happen for you..I will keep you guys posted about my job search adventures.God I just want to work arleady:heartbeat!!!:))))

Yah...its ludicrous....not only will I not take the job...but I will definitely file a complaint with the civil rights committee at CAIR. We preach religious freedom...this totally steps all over it. I won't take no for an answer.

This is absolutely disgusting. Glad that your going to report this.

A guy at home depot recently just lost his job for refusing to remove a button that said "one nation under God" and its on our coins for gosh sakes.

Wow...that's pretty intense. I understand we try to play the "separation of church and state" game every now and then...but its rather obvious that there is no separation. Even so, whatever happened to freedom of expression and religion??? I think as long as its not offensive to anyone else or threatening...than for God's sake, whats the big deal?

Anyway..turns out the HR rep that told me that I wasn't allowed to wear my head scarf had no clue what he was talking about. Someone from HR called me today, hired me and apologized for the utter display of ignorance.

Congrats confused on your first job!! Let us know how it goes...As far as for me, I went to the out of state hospital interview, filled out an app and have spoke with HR personally...she took a look at my resume, asked me why did I choose nursing profession and what kind of area of nursing I would be interestedin and what hours would set me best...I told her I would like to work on med-surg first and then maybe move on to some specialty like labor and delivery or ER...it seems like they have a lot of sick patients-they have many openings for ICU,stroke/neuro unit,or cardiac stepdown...but they do have one opening for med-surg as well as Labor and delivery, mother%baby etc...she said that the orientation period is 8 weeks (two weeks computer training,Hippa etc and 6 weeks on the actual floor) So basically after our little talk she tried to page med-surg unit manager to show me around but unfortuntely for me she had to step out of the hospital due to some family emergency so the recruiter scheduled a second interview with me this upcoming tuesday...they have a new grad tea party in which all the new grads will meet managers from different units and there will be hiring on the spot...hopefully one of the managers( hoping the med-surg one or at least labor and delivery one)

As far as the interview at the nursing home I did go..and have spoken with the charge nurse...she said she will let me know sooon...
