I have applied for a work visa for the position as a dialysis nurse. I was filed last april 1 2009 and was wondering when will i get to have a visa? Anyone with a similar status of mine???:specs:

hello revekah09,

I came to USA on husband's visa (h4)....took nclex and ielts then passed both....I have 15 yrs. exp.( Med/Surg, CCU, ICU)applied for H1-C and started my work last 2008 and currently working in ICU....my dilemma now is that my present visa....the hospital( my petitioner) was not able to extend our visa and no longer available...some of my colleagues went home already because their H1-C visa expired....they have no time to apply anymore or look for another employer....but some of us still have. What about you? Are you working here in USA or in Philippines

Specializes in Neurosurgical ICU.

Can someone please tell me how this process works? I got offered an ICU position at UC irvine and i will graduate in jan with an OPT F1 visa valid to work for 12 months. How do i extend this? do i have to apply for H1B or H1C? does the employer have to do this? thankyou all

OPT in nursing can not be extended. H1C is only accepted in I think 15 hospitals and I think is also under review. H1b has to be applied for by employer and they have to pay fees

Greetings to everyone! My attorney told me that my H1b has been approved and now we are just waiting for the mailed letter to arrived. I am scheduled to come home to the Philippines for my 45 days vacation and that i may not be able to return back here in Saudi Arabia.

My visa stamping will be in Manila, my concern now is that i have an existing valid working visa here in the kingdom and that my US visa be denied upon interview by the US consul in Manila because i did not cancel my working visa here.

Thank you in advance for your comments...God bless!

I had in aunt in New Jersey who is working on a nursing care home. She is quality assurance coordinator and her facility is willing to sponsor me for H1B visa. They had a lawyer already to help me to file for the H1B visa to USCIS. They want me to file for the charge nurse position in their facility. But after all these suggestions and comments from the administrators, will I still continue to file for H1b Visa? I was disheartened reading all theses post. I had my NCLEX and visa screen already with an ongoing staff nurse work here in our secondary hospital. Does anybody here had the same experience as mine? You're reply is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

hi there! i think we're on a similar situation only that i have no experience yet as an RN in the phils but I do have another degree which i finished before taking up nursing. im still preparing to take my ielts to get a visa screen. so how's it going now? are you pursuing with your orig plan? im having a difficulty too. right now, my employer, who owns a home health and another healthcare facility wants me to go to the US on my tourist visa, then file for the sponsorship while im there to make the process faster as they said.. i was hoping they could still file my petition and wait for the results while im here in the phils. cause i think that would be much safer. i know it wont do me any good once i go to the US as a tourist then apply for a working visa and dont get approved. really, this has kept me online everyday looking for options, possible answers..... any suggestions? thanks in advance. : )

I don't think you being in the US when filing H1b makes any difference because as far as I am aware you still have to attend for a interview and you can't do that in the US

For those nurses who have acquired H1Bs: who has sponsored you and under what position? Have they also filed for green card sponsorship as well? Thank you so much in advance. Does anyone know approximately how long it takes for canadian nurses to get green cards once I-140s are filed?? I'm a BSN prepared nurse now attempting to prepare for the future! Not sure whether or not I should ask my american employer to file the I-140 due to the potential of never being able to leave the hospital. Thank you!!!

Current waiting time once I140 is approved is 5 years but this will vary as it moves up and down and also dependent on where you was born. If you check out the visa bulletin and your birth place is Canada then you will come under the heading Rest of the World and usually nurses come under EB3 category. As a Canadian you have the option of NAFTA visa (TN) which is probably a better visa to have than H1b and you can still file for greencard on NAFTA.

Thank you silverdragon as always for such a thoughtful response!! I'm currently on a tn and feel like I'll never move to something more permanent due to the long waiting times. How long does it take to get a green card if in the NP H1B category? Or is it still the same? Thank you!!

If you have a job as a NP I think your category would be EB2 which I think is current therefore the process will be fast but you need to be employed as a NP

hi im new here and have read the previous threads. I have already received my rn illinois license, currently working as a cardiac cathlab nurse for almost 2 years and my visa screen is already in the process. can anyone help me which agency can help me get an H1B visa? I know that the chances are getting slim to go to US but im still trying to be optimistic.

I hope someone can help me with my concern. thanks so much. :)

Hi, I would just like to know if anyone have an idea how much you could spend in the credentialing process for H1b visa. Because somebody offered me for a fee of $600. I would just like to check if this is reasonable. thanks.
