Gwinnett Tech Fall 2017

Published

Is anyone here applying to the 2017 session? I've seen some other GTC threads from previous years and am wondering if there are any current pre-nursing students lurking around. Those were fun to read, btw.

I just recently took the Kaplan for the first time and will be taking it again in January so I can hopefully get a better score.

Is anyone completely done with the admissions process? I'm anxious to see who gets in and who doesn't because it doesn't seem like there's a sure-fire way to tell based on what I've seen. Time will tell! I sure hope I'm one of the lucky ones.

Has anyone heard what textbooks we need or have any good study resources? Specifically for pharmacology/drug calculations. I want to start reading over summer break. Anyone want to get together to refresh? I'm not sure if I actually know you all or not.

Hello ladies, I hope all of you are enjoying your summer? Can anyone recommend a great College Algebra teacher? I struggle with math and need recommendations on the best Math professors at GTC. Thanks in advance!

There are required tools not yet throughly discussed. We need a stethoscope and a watch with a second hand, preferably water resistant at the very least. I think Leap Day is gonna be work more than play. Pharm teacher said to begin math book!

Hello, Can anyone recommend a great College Algebra or Statistics teacher? I struggle with math and need recommendations on the best Math professors at GTC. Thanks in advance!

I'm going to apply to start my pre reqs. next year... and I'm planning to do it full time, so how long did you guys finish all the pre reqs? Do you think in 1 year ( all of 2018 ) is too little time?

I'm not sure if anyone is still active but I am looking for some information as what what the nursing program really consists of as far as scheduling. I see on the schedule of classes that some days says 7 am -7pm? Do you guys really spend 12 hours a day at clinical? I'm a wife and mom and trying to figure out if this program is realistic for me. Thanks

The first semester you don't do 12 hr clinical shifts, but eventually u will. Although your not at school or clinical for 12 hrs, plan for A LOT of time spent because the curriculum is not easy! It is a ton of information to learn in a very short amount of time with very little room for error. It is totally do-able with hard work and planning!

I see, thanks so much....my undergrad degree is over 15 years old and I will have to take my science classes over. I also wanted to retake math and psychology for a better grade. Do if you if the school averages the two grades or will just use the most recent?

I believe they take the most recent one.

how many students do they accept for the nursing program?

Between 60 and 70. I believe we had 67 students this year.

Hello, I'm currrently a nursing student at gwinnett tech. TBH I don't feel too good about being accepted into the program. Only because so far I have all B's and I think I will fail this humanities course I'm taking. This particular semester I had too much going on with my famil and lost focus. The advisors don't really tell me anything useful or helpful. One thing I figured out to do is t spread my sciences out. so in Fall 2018, I will be taking A&P 1. Spring 2019 A&P2. And Microbiology in Fall 2019. Then I will apply. I am planning to make all A's in those programs but I know how hard it can be.

Anyway, Is there ANYONE out there with vital information to help me get through with a chance of being accepted ?

Am I able to take Kaplan while in my Microbiology course ? And then apply before progam ??? or should I wait til that semester is over.
