Guilford Tech Fall 2012 Nursing Program

New to allnurses.com but, I just applied for Nursing School at GTCC and I am so anxious to find out what points are getting accepted! Just wondering how many have applied and what their point range was? That Tea's V was a butt Kicker for me! So anxious to get a letter!

Okay ladies. I think all of us are anxiously waiting for our letters. Hopefully tom. Will bring us some good news. Trust me I have been following this blog and stalking my mail too. Nothing for me either today. But i called today and the lady in the admissions office for the ADN program said, "she had mailed all the letters out on friday". I came to the conclusion that alternates got their letters first for some reason before the people who had been accepted. I wish u ladies the best of luck for this letter that we are all impatiently waiting for! Keep us posted!

I think I will go to bed late tonight or early morning so when I do wake up the mail will have already been delivered. I don't think I can take too many more waking hours of waiting!!! Thanks for the hope, Forsyth11!

Haha I wish I could do that Linda! Unfortunately, I have Organic Chemistry (not terrible), History (terrible) and Critical Thinking (NOTHING IS WORSE!!!) starting at 9am tomorrow. :crying2: At least it will keep me busy but its hard to focus on aldehydes and ketones when very important life changing mail could be waiting on you!! haha Dramatic, yes...but true. :redbeathe Do you ladies think that I should stay in all of my classes and get the associates in arts in the summer or if I should not stress myself over classes I don't even need? None of these classes apply to the ADN, only the BSN..... and I would be taking Bio 166 in the summer. Decisions Decisions! You're input is much appreciated!

I think you should stick with the classes and complete them because you never know when you will need them in life. What if you what to pursue a BSN or even MSN? I have a biology degree myself so I have many biology classes behind me so I know they will come in use when I decide to pursue a BSN or even MSN. It's never a bad thing to get too much education! Education never goes to waste...

I agree with Forsyth11, you may want your BSN one day. If you think you can bear any more of this torture lol. But I would definitely stick it out especially if I was doing pretty well. 166 sucks right now for me, I am getting a tad bit unmotivated and it is a lot of info ugh.

My letter says & I quote "accepted & alternate status is contingent upon receipt of documentation for the following items by the deadline date of june 2: medical form and cpr certification. orientation is july 13th & thats when they measure for uniforms :nurse: I'm already gettin my hopes up lol. I think as an alternate you should know if you get in by june 2 but its still possible to not find out until the day nursing starts cuz someone may not show. That would be pure hell to have to wait that long. Not gonna even entertain that thought. lol

I agree with Forsyth11. You should definitely do your best in the classes you are taking so if you decide later to go for the BSN or MSN you will be closer to achieving them. I plan to continue taking classes toward the BSN too even though I am undecided at this time. Of course, I am older than most of you. You have more time to decide to go on to a BSN or MSN. Do your best now, and you will be thankful you did later.

amgladwell12, I have CPR for the healthcare provider and lifeguard through the American Red Cross. Do they stipulate whether you have to have CPR training from the American Heart Association or not?? Will my American Red Cross certification work, I wonder?

I honestly don't know, it says Cpr certification through American Heart Association. I know when I took Cna they said that was the only one that would count. But if you do have to take it again, they offer it at Gtcc and it was pretty easy :)

Thanks for all of the advice! What you guys are saying makes a lot of sense. As much as I hate some of these classes, I need to suck it up for a few more months. amgladwell you will be just fine! I doubt they would make you wait that long especially since you're so far up on the alternate list. I have a lot of faith in your position as it stands! I'm just ready to see where I stand as well! Accepted, alternate or denied. Just give me some peace!! haha

I hope we all get in and Annalise u know I have faith and a strong opinion you will most certainly get in :) it will def be a fun two years with this group :) ark88 keep going girl it can't hurt.. Only help .... I think I'm going to take the summer of IF by chance I get accepted so I can spend the summer with my little girl! In 166 now and it is a lot of info . Maintained an A in 65 but averaging an 88 in 166 but I'll take it
