Is anyone applying for Gwinnett Tech's Fall 2011 RN program? I submitted my application back in October (I really wanted to have enough time in case anything happened). I'm still waiting on the initial letter about the meeting for the entrance exam. Does anyone know when we're supposed to get that letter? I know the application due date wasn't too long ago (Jan. 15th) and with the snow, things are probably backed up a bit, but for some reason I thought we should already have word by now.
Oh, I knew it was an opinion. I didn't mean to sound harsh or inappropriate with anything I said...I just really try my best to be logical and look at all sides. I was also basically trying to say that I was thinking the same thing about guys getting into the program based on gender. Sorry, sometimes I think I reason through stuff so much in my head that what comes out of my mouth (fingers?) isn't the exact point I'm trying to make. And I also agree that mommybear9's post was very good. I never got around to addressing it earlier, so I'm glad you brought that up.
Ahh! Skizzal, I just wanted you to know that I was sitting at my computer and my email popped up. I nearly had a heart attack. And then I saw it was just allnurses. I'm betting on Monday too. Though it would be nice to have an excuse to celebrate this weekend! :) That and at least I could answer people when they ask if I know anything yet. I think some of my friends and family are as on edge as I am.
I got the email also. I hope today also, but I agree that banking on Monday is probably a better idea. I'd like a reason to celebrate this weekend also, lol. Even though I wouldn't really be able to celebrate, since I have 2 papers to write and a test to study for...but I'd be able to feel a lot more relaxed while doing it. :)
Hi Melissa. I can answer that. I am in the first year of the program now. With our class we really didn't get that information until a while after we found out. What you need to prepare yourself for is to just breathe and relax once you know that you are in. Once you are in, you're in. It's kind of an odd place to be after you've become used to working hard every single day to get here. Don't worry.... you'll be working very hard when you start. ha ha You will receive the information that you need in plenty of time, but if it is anything like it was for us and for the seniors..... it's not immediate. Our class will be available to you to answer any questions that we can. Don't rush into buying anything because you really do want to wait to assure that you get the right things for the program. We order our uniforms from a particular company. They will give you that info. You'll need a stethoscope. They will provide you with a book list. That's probably the biggest financial hit. They probably will NOT give you the reading assignment until very close to class starting and that is intentional. They want you to spend time relaxing and focusing on your family before you start the journey. Hopefully this information helps. If y'all want to know anything else, let me know and I'll answer if I have the info.
I'm excited to congratulate all of you once you here so I am watching on here for the celebrations to begin. I hope they get the info out to you on Monday. You guys know about the "status" change clue, too... right? I saw that in your feed. Keep an eye out for that. That's how I found out and so did a few others. The emails go out about the same time the statuses change.
Melissa, I'm with mommybear9 on the big information packet not coming until later. Especially since they said orientation wasn't until right before the semester starts. My guess is that it will be sooner than they it was for the previous classes simply because the semester starts earlier than the quarters have.
Mommybear, thanks for all the helpful information. I am wondering about vaccines that are needed. MMR? Chickenpox? One forum on here mentioned titer tests for old vaccines/immunity. Which of these are needed for the program.

Rumors rumors!!! opinions or whatever people think! tomorrow is the day or let's say Monday. The time is near. I thank God I didn't put my eggs in one basket so by God's grace will start the nursing program this fall whether in GTC or elsewhere.
My wish is for everyone who has made it this far to make it into the program. Hopefully, those will don't get in Monday will be called later when others turn down their spaces.
I feel GTC is more competitive than most of the BSN programs considering the # of applicants(in the thousand) and the # accepted (just 60).
You all are great and are very competitive so don't sound frustrated.
@Olivia
When u see me write "I think..." know that it's an opinion. I think the only place to get answers to all doubts is call the school. I only thought the boy will get in because of the word "diversity." so no offense and besides I made it clear in my late post that it was an opinion.
Good luck to you all!
