Hello to everyone,
I decided to start a thread:idea: to find out if there's anyone who's applied or plans to apply to Georgia Stat University's Spring 2011 program. I have already sent out my application package in the middle of August. I know that we won't start hearing anything until October, but I figured it would help reduce the pressure of the wait for us to have discussions about it here.
Hope to hear from GSU applicants soon; and if there are former/current BLSON students on here that can give us some advice and helpful words
it would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks!!
Thanks for the reply SweetPei. Does anyone know exactly which classes make up the "program gpa"?
I already had my Bachelor's degree in business prior to going to GSU and took the following classes at GSU in order to apply to the nursing program:
Bio 1103 & 1104 (Received A's in both)
Anatomy 1 & II (Received A's in both)
MicroBiology (Received A+)
Abnormal Psychology (Received A+)
HHS 3000 (A)
Nursing 2010 (A+)
I feel very confident with these grades obviously and worked super hard to get them; however, the program GPA must consist of more than just these classes and I need to go back to my transcripts to figure out my program GPA.
Any help would be appreciated. Oh..my TEAS was a 92%...which I was super excited about because I studied for over 2 weeks and was so anxious! I'm hoping I get in because I only applied to the ACE program at GSU...(probably not a wise idea)
@Sidd, if you did have a gpa of 4.0, I would have bet u would have been in the first batch of accepted applicants, but I don't know now. Your teas score is extremely good so that woulf definitely hold some weight for you.
@Mushka, if you go back to post #3 of this thread and click the link that bdanders posted, you will be able to see that info. I think it has to do with overall program gpa and sciences.
@hsfutrnurse, I think you just have to be accepted. Both gpc & gsu are part of the university system of georgia, so you won't have any transfer issue. I won't recommend what you should do because I don't know which of the two choices would benefit you most.

congrats! those are amazing grades. I was wondering how did you like all the science classes at gsu? because i want to go to gpc because its closer to my house and i dont want to take the risk of getting bad grades. were there any pre-requisites before taking A&P, bio or micro?
Thanks guys. I definitely don't feel 100% confident, even with my grades.
@ Highschoolfuturenurs.....I loved A&P I and II at GSU; however, I think it was because of my professor. If you do take it at GSU, take Kyla Ross...she is an AMAZING teacher! Very challenging..but you will learn SO much! I didn't love BIO I and II and would have rather taken Chemistry; however, GSU doesn't offer Chemistry I and II after 5pm...so I couldn't take it. Micro was terrible as well. I suggest taking whatever pre-req's you can at GPC since it is so close to your house.
The waiting is really killing me...wish we could find out already.
I almost forgot.....I don't think there are any pre-req's for taking those science classes.
I took Bio I and NURS one semester, Bio II and HHS the next semester, A&P 1 and Abnormal Psych the next semester and then A&P II and Micro together...
I work full time so couldn't take more than 2 classes at a time...I think this helped me maintain good grades....
hello everyone . . . . i turned un my application last week for the traditional program, and i have no idea on how i fair compared to the other applicants. i have a 3.79 program gpa, and i scored an 88 on my teas. considering people are scoring 90's on their teas, and i have little background in the healthcare field, i don't think my chances are good. i'm still hoping for the best though. best of luck to everyone!!!

hi everyone, i am so relieved for finding this site. i also applied for ace in gsu for spring 2011. i am an international student with a pharmacy degree. i have a gpa of 4.0 and today i received my teas score 81.3%. at first i was happy to see the score but after reading all the blogs i was really worried about my score. anyway i dont have any pption now i already poated the score to gsu. lets see what will happen. i have a question, is everyone accepted into gsu as a degree seeking student and got ur ids? i havent been accepted and when i call them they were saying there is nothing to worry it will be done. i will be happy if someone replies.
