GSU Fall 13 Applicants

U.S.A. Georgia

Anybody applying for Fall '13 at Georgia State?

I applied for the ACE track, and am anxiously waiting to hear back. Does anyone know if it's strictly by grades/TEAS, or if we have good references and healthcare experience, if it helps at all?? I'm a second degree student, so my program GPA isn't a 4.0 or anything, but I did well on the TEAS. I'm hoping that two years of experience in home healthcare at least helps make up for my gpa.

Good luck to everyone!!

@hopecharleigh From what I know, the program admits on a points system. You get certain points for things such as grades in your science courses, references, experiences, essay, grades, teas, being a ga state student, etc. When I entered the ACE program last fall, I didn't have a 4.0 gpa or any prior healthcare experience but I assume the rest of my application made up for it. Good Luck !

Thanks for the information @shicurls!

Hey guys,

i'm already in nursing school-not at georgia state though. I applied to georgia state for fall 2012 and they didnt accept me. on my rejection letter they said the reason they didnt accept me is because theyre only accepting students with a 3.85 and above GPA average(crazy right?yeah i know) . when compared to schools like emory which focuses on the whole application, GSU focuses mainly on GPA and TEAS everything else doesnt really matter. i ended up getting accepted into a top nursing school so it suprised me when gsu didnt accept me.

so my advice to you guys is if you dont have a 3.85 or above please please PLEASE send out applications to as many schools as you can. i knew so many people who had only applied to gsu and didnt get accepted and then had to waste 1 or more semesters. the more schools you apply to the more chances you have of getting accepted somewhere. nursing school is so freaking competitive now the only thing that saved me is that i applied to as many schools as i could.

so i just wanted to give tht little hint of advice, but good luck to you all!

@ niqu92, if you read the GSU Fall 2012 forum, there were many who got accepted with lower than a 3.85, even lower than a 3.8!!! This really scares me that they would say that to you!! What school are you at now?

The average for last semester was a 3.8, so they're definitely letting in lower GPA's for it to average out like that. I am confused as to why she would tell you that. The facts simply don't back up her statement.

That is what I figured too, but this did scare me for a few seconds. It doesn't make sense...

It's almost here. If the past postings are any indicator on when acceptance letters go out, then we should start receiving them in the next week or two.

i got accepted into NYU, Umiami, Boston college,Emory, and Umaryland

I went with Umaryland because its ranked #11. i was ideally hoping for georgia state because thts where i went for my prerequisites so i wanted to stay there and on top of tht its sooooo much cheaper. GSU was the only place that denied me. I wrote a killer essay and had killer recommendations but i guess it wasnt good enough because of my gpa they said if i want to re-apply then i'd have to retake chemII,A&PII,and organic chemistry cause i got a B in them i was like errmm..no -__-

i knew people with 3.7's and above tht still didnt get accepted. the competition is FIERCE at gsu so thts why i came in to tell everybody to make sure they have backup schools

Niqu92, when was your letter postmarked? I didn't know letters were already sent out. Going to go check the mail now! :)

Nope, no mail. Hopefully soon! We are getting close to April so we should know something soon!

I think she is referring to last semester :)
