GSU Fall 2014 Applications
Yes, just like Concrete Rose says it is very diverse. There are a lot of first time degree students, second and third degree students (including me!), and students with kids etc. I think GSU in general is pretty diverse. I got my first degree at GSU and graduated a while ago and as far as diversity goes, things haven't changed much - they are still diverse! Age ranges from 20 to late 50s in my classes right now!

GSU Fall 2014 Applications
Concrete Rose, I'm not sure what your background is but I'm in my first semester as an ACE student and by no means is it the easiest. I've been told by several semester 4 ACE students that the 1st semester is the hardest. The material gets more in depth as we go, but this is the foundation semester so EVERYTHING is new. Also, as far as patho goes, it is NOT easy at GSU. The class averages for exams are low 80s. I have an almost perfect GPA and I've struggled in patho to keep my grade at right around a 90. I have also checked - it is not offered in the summer. If you are doing ACE, you will be taking 6 courses your first semester. These classes are patho, pharm, health assessment & skills, clinical nutrition, ctw concepts with medical terminology, and a trends course. It totals 18 credit hours, but it should be more because the skills class has added additional lab time (this semester was the first semester they did it and it will probably continue), so you will be taking more like 19.5 credits. On top of exams, we also have dozens of quizzes (and I mean like almost 100 between the classes), several projects, several papers, several care plans. I study on average about 12-14 hours on my days off. On the days we have class, I am usually too tired to study so I just do small things like make charts etc. This is the consensus for everyone else I've spoken to as well. I just don't want you getting the wrong idea that this is easy at first. Go in with realistic expectations, and you will be just fine!

Sixela21 - I just checked for you and Patho is not even offered this summer. Only NURS 2010 is listed. Sorry!!

GSU Fall 2014 Applications
I honestly would not recommend taking more than the 18 hours. I am very good at managing my time and already have a Bachelor's degree and at that time was taking 16 hours AND working 40-60 hours a week as a manager. I can tell you now, that was NOTHING compared to what this semester has been like! And I am not working right now! Meep is right - this is nothing like your pre-reqs! I don't think the program will allow it anyways. There are only certain classes they let you take early and that is after you have already taken the foundation courses. You have to finish and pass certain clinical courses before starting the next clinical course. Patho is something I think you can take early, however, since it is not a clinical course. If you want to take anything this summer, yes I would recommend it, if it is offered. However, on the other hand, you might want to enjoy your summer off before you get REALLY BUSY! It is up to you!

GSU Fall 2014 Applications
Congrats to everyone who has been accepted! I remember being in your shoes last October waiting for my letter! I am currently a 1st semester ACE student and am loving the program! For all you ACE'rs out there, it is A LOT of work but you can do it! Only 2 more weeks for me and I will be done with the first semester!! Still can't believe I've made it this far and how fast it went by! As far as the Facebook group goes - no, one of you guys will need to make a group and add your colleagues. The staff does not make the group. Our class has one, but not many people are on it. Once you are actually in the classroom, you will start to make friends very fast and you won't really need the group anymore. Also, someone mentioned something about scheduling for childcare - don't depend on what GoSolar says for your schedule. You will have to come to campus on days that aren't listed for skills check offs and a few other things. They are pretty good at telling you in advance, but you may have to make some last minute adjustments. Be flexible and be READY TO STUDY A LOT!! If you have any specific questions, feel free to PM me. I don't check this every day but I will periodically log on and answer any questions you guys might have! Congrats again!!

Georgia State University Spring 2014
If you got your first degree at GSU, you should be fine as long as you complete all the additional required prerequisites for the program.

You need to check your academic evaluation on GoSolar to see if all your core credits transferred. For the ACE track, my core classes were satisfied through my previous bachelor's degree but I also received my first degree from GSU, so that might be why. If you are still unsure after looking at your academic evaluation, I would call the school. They are good about getting someone on the phone ASAP.

Georgia State University Spring 2014
Hey guys. I was just able to register for my classes and there is still a department restriction on NURS 2160, which is the class with the lab/clinical portion. I'm a ACE student so I'm supposed to register for this one, but has anyone had the same problem? I wonder if they are just waiting to get all my health documentation in first?
