GRU CNL 2014 entering class

Published

Is anyone applying early decision for the 2014 entering class? Does anyone know how long it takes to get a decision/interview email? Does anyone know the statistics for acceptances from last year?

Thanks for replying! One more follow up for anyone who can answer:) Did anyone complete their science ccourses (aside from A&P) online? I have been communicating with the program leader, who said there wasn't an issue with doing so as long as A&P is completed in the classroom. I'm currently an intel analyst at Fort Gordon in a 24-hour mission. I've been able to work out my schedule to take A&P 1 and 2 in the classroom (the class is 5 days a week), however it would be infinitely more practical for me to be able to complete some of the other courses online. Just wondering if anyone did the same, and if you ran into any hiccups during the application process because of it? Thanks again!:)

Does anyone know how many people have been accepted so far?

I saw your post earlier in which they hinted that you may not hear word until your prereqs are completed? I'm interested if this is the case with everyone who had prereqs pending?

Trichick,

I am in the process of completing the last 3 of my prereqs this semester and they notified me of my acceptance last week. It sounds like you have plenty of time to get them all in by start of class in 2015.

I have several questions that can be answered by current students, students who have just gained entry in early decision as well as those who are attempting acceptance through regular entry and those who have completed the program.

Current students:

How is the program as a whole? Please detail the good, bad and ugly? What is the structure of the program? What items were necessary for the success of the program?

Students who have gotten accepted for Fall '14:

Congratulation on being accepted!

What were your GPAs, MAT/GRE scores? Did you have any volunteer hours? How were your grades for the required pre-requisites? How long after submitting your application did you get an email about your interview? How was the interview (please include specifics)?

Regular entry applicants:

First off I would like to say good luck on getting accepted!

Has anyone status changed from ready to review? If so, what is the current status of your application? What are you GPAs, pre-req grades and MAT/GRE scores?

Graduates of the program:

Are you happy with your choice of entering this program? If you could change something about the program would you? And what would it be? How difficult was the program and did it prepare you well for the NCLEX? How was getting a job after graduating and was the program effective in preparing you for working as a RN?

If there is anything you can add that I may not have asked about please add it.

NesaB,

I was a regular entry applicant for Fall 14. It took about 2 weeks from the time I submitted my application until I received word that I got an interview. The interview was laid back although questions were asked that assessed leadership, integrity, and time management skills. It would be in your best interest to understand what a CNL does and hammer down why you will make an exceptional nurse (CNL). There will be time to ask questions at the end of the interview so let them know you are interested! During my interview the interviewer said it would take anywhere from 6-8 weeks to hear about my acceptance. Within 3 weeks I received a phone call notifying me of my acceptance. Not sure what my GPA is maybe something like 3.6-3.8 and my GRE score was a bit above average. I was in a fraternity during my undergraduate studies that required 25hrs of community service per semester.

Hope this info helps.

Best wishes,

Thomas Skinner

I was early decision. I graduated with a 3.91 GPA, I don't know my GPA for the pre-req courses, and I don't remember my GRE score. I have a LOT of community involvement and leadership (several years of involvement and still involved in it). I turned in my application very early in the process and I knew I wouldn't hear anything until sometime after the application deadline. It was a few weeks. The interview was very laid back, but do know specifically the role of the CNL and how it pertains to you and your future career plans. It was a very easy interview process. I've gone through it twice (I was accepted last fall and declined acceptance the first time due to family issues) and both times it was laid back. It was more laid back the first time though, I will say.

Tgskin,

Thanks for the response it has helped. I applied on Feb. 24th as they extended to application deadline to Feb. 28th. I called the program director and was told that my application is on their application list and interviews will be scheduled soon. I am so nervous and really hope that I get an invite to interview. The info you provided has been helpful in explaining what they are seeking in potential candidates for the program. I have a 3.2 GPA from undergrad and a 4.0 in my pre-reqs. I volunteered at GRU from July 2012 to April 2013 and scored a little over the required minimum for the MAT. I believe I have a strong essay as well as great references. So, I hope I get an invite soon; however it is a little intimidating that so many people have already been accepted. I'm just hoping they need to fill more seats (hence the extension for the application deadline). I will keep you guys posted on my status with the program. Thanks for the good luck wishes!

Thanks for all your advice and congratulations on gaining entry into the program. I wish you all the best! Please cross fingers for me....:-)

For those entering the Athens CNL program, the current students have set up a Facebook page to answer any questions you may have. We already have 11 current students as members. Congrats again! https://www.facebook.com/groups/271342319698784/

Also, Augusta campus already had a page set up for support. They are https://www.facebook.com/groups/510103085724778/

Hope to see y'all there!

I have been accepted early for fall 14, and am taking chem II through GPC, which was approved by the program.

Hey Potential CNLs!! Congrats to those of you who have applied, gotten interviews and/or gotten accepted!! And good luck to those waiting (that's the worst part). I am a current CNL student and loving every minute of the program (okay, except the minutes when I wish I was in bed instead of studying!). I've been busy with this semester, so I am sorry I'm late to the game, but I'm willing to answer any questions you may have. Also, if you will be attending the Augusta campus, please request to join our Facebook group GRU CNL Family Augusta (New and Old) if you haven't already!!
