Group One

Published

I cannot find a way to contact or locate Group One.

Since I have left a bad job where the supervisors and nurse managers pretty much did what they wanted to you without any kind of controls (yikes!), I have some realistic concerns about what may have been reported about me.

I googled. I searched here.

I did find one post from to day that mentioned Group One, and I emailed that member.

But if someone out there knows how to find out "what they're sayin' about ya," I'd sure like to know about it. It probably ought to be included in a link someplace on this board.

TIA! (not the "mini stroke" kind :lol2: )

Yes I know what an attorney costs - have you ever heard of contingency? Did you not see my prior msg to contact me about one who is taking the cases?

Yeah ... I've heard of contingency. I mentioned it in my post. Your post didn't mention if this attorney is taking cases on contingency or not. As I previously mentioned, it's a very difficult thing to do because you have to convince them to pay the litigation costs. Most lawyers won't do it, for obvious reasons. They want you to pay.

I'm familiar with safe harbour. I've read it. Personally, I prefer California's ratio law. Safe staffing is already set by law and you don't have to file a complaint or worry about paperwork because most hospitals comply with the law. There's less burden on the nurse.

Again - are you in TEXAS?

Are you saying cases are easier to litigate in Texas? I seriously doubt it. I've litigated cases in two states ... court cases are very difficult ... and expensive ... no matter where you go.

Thats why people need to get together and make this thing class action - including folks from a few other industries - not just nursing - that this has been happening in.

That's really the only way it's going to change is to push it all the way up to a federal court and get changes made in the FCRA. Until that happens, it's only going to get worse - much worse - be on the lookout, it is happening in some form or fashion just about everywehre even if you don't know it.

I don't dismiss the possibility of it happening elsewhere but, as Sunnyjohn pointed out ... they were notified because that's what the law requires. If it is happening elsewhere, wouldn't we hear something by now?

You might, if they were forthcoming about such a thing even being in existence. It is possible that these covert agencies exist, and people are not really told where the information comes from so they hear nothing.

By the same token, we could speculate that the people who think they got their Group One files "fixed" actually didn't ... if all of this is covert. I'm not sure it's helpful to speculate beyond what we know.

What I do know is that in my last job application my current employer didn't even ask for a credit check i.e. the FCRA authorization unless you were applying for a financial position. My previous employer didn't either. I only know of one employer in my area that does it for nurses.

At my current job, I requested and received a copy of my background check report, which included job verfication and references from my previous employers.

California law requires them to give you the form to request the report while you're filling out the application. And, of course, they're required by law to give you the report. Is this required in Texas?

I've applied at a few places in Texas were they give you a seperate form to fill out to receive the credit/consumer report they pull to make the decision. Some just inform you on the application of the right to get that report.

Although I agree that folks should follow the proper channels for leaving a job, I STILL think Group One is a problem.

Yes, the very existence of such an organization as Group One is an egregious problem - and an insult to the profession of nursing.

OK, color me dense but is GO only in Texas or does this axis of evil branch into other States? I'm asking because A: I'm a huge instigator (aka Norma Rae) and B: I have changed agencies and will be accepting travel assignments in the south and 3: I'm all over the illegality of libel, slander and blacklisting. What is this, McCarthyism all over again?

Of note, interesting contact I just had with a rep there who confirmed some pretty creepy stuff. PS, they monitor this site from a google search on a weekly basis! It's Big Brother!!!!!!!!

I live in Texas and Texas is off of my list. When I tell people the things I've seen and experienced as a nurse in Texas, they sometimes don't even believe me, because my experiences have been so unbelievable.I'm a traveler now. I'm exiled to Texas r/t dh's job.

Didn't mean in any way to disparage the people of Texas, themselves, of which I'm sure there are many fine souls, including several who post on these boards. But it does sound as though the laws of the government of Texas permit a situation that is not very friendly to nurses.

Plus, I hear the weather is really, really hot, there.

It is not Texas law that permits this - it is Federal law.

Yes GO or agencies like it operate in other states.

Which is why I have been somewhat careful about what I posted on here about them until I got to a place where I didnt really care anymore. I haven't done anything worth blacklisting, or anything illegal. But I am also all too aware that it is all too easy to find out anything about anybody anywhere.

Now that is just SLIMY. On the other hand, are there positions available for these jobs? I'd love having nothing better to do than sit around reading a nurses chat site - except don't know what I'd be looking for? Do they think we have info about WMD in some Middle Eastern country?

Haunted, are you talking about this rep being in Texas? Although I'm sure it is, or soon will be operating all over the country, for the time being I want to know where to avoid.
