Grossmont Nursing Spring 2017 Cohort

Published

Hi! Good luck to everyone who applied for Spring 2017! I just wanted to start a thread for those of us anxiously awaiting to hear back. I will be applying to Mira Costa and Palomar, as well as SDCCD and southwestern later in the year. How many points does everyone thing they had? From what I've read, it seems like most cohorts hear back in mid-late September. I wish everyone the best!

I received my Invite email yesterday around 1PM. Had about 84 points if I calculated correctly.

I also applied to Palomar and Miracosta for ADNs - as well as WGU and CSU-SM for AccBSNs.

My top 3 choices are:: CSUSM, WGU (won't hear back till November), & Grossmont :)

Congrats Esj87! Will you be accepting grossmont invitation or waiting to hear back from your other top choices?

THANK YOU Emily :) ... Grossmont is my top ADN choice, therefore I would decline Palomar and Miracosta anyway even if they accept me later....

However, being that SD is such a ridiculously competitive market I think a second BSN might serve me better in terms of gainful employment once the program is over. So I am on the fence right now and biting my nails over it. I will be contacting the Director of the program first to discuss a previous DUI as well.... If that isn't an issue with them and I can get clinical placement w.o Issue I'll probably accept.

Yeah that's a tough decision! It's too bad you don't find find out until novemeber about the other schools! I haven't received an acceptance email yet but I'm keeping my head up! I'm sure a lot of people are in that same boat, I wonder what happens if you accept one of the other schools in November, what does grossmont do, take people from the waitlist?

Cocoa#4, what were your grades sciences? Did you get a C in one class or all three ?

A anatomy

a physiology

c micro

I thought they required a C or better in sciences? That seems odd they would send you an email and not just tell you when you dropped off your application.

I believe so, they reach out to the next candidates -they must have a list considering I know some students drop off only after they do not attempt orientation which isn't till 12/3

I wonder why they haven't at least sent out the rejection email first to all the applicants who did not get accepted. I don't understand the delay on that end. I find it kinda odd.

I think it's because they wait to see who accepts their invite. As people decline because of acceptance emails from other schools, they go down the list of their applicants. Someone who might not have been chosen in the first 40 applicants, may get an invitation a few days later....as people decline the invite or whatever else might come up. So we still have a chance!

I believe they did send out emails to those who were not accepted due to not meeting requirements or incomplete applications. According to the email I received, it said it would take a few weeks to contact everyone else to either offer a seat or let them know they weren't accepted.

Makes sense, aval13! I'm happy we're not in that boat! I feel you 4GVN, we will find out soon enough, they have our emails so all we can do is stay positive.
