grossmont college waiting list

I've been on the Grossmont waiting list for a year and a half now. Estimated start date is fall of 2007...anyone else?? I mainly see posts from people in programs or people still taking pre req's. Looking for others in limbo here in san diego like myself.

Ok here is the latest news. I got a 96 on the final and 94 in the class overall! Woot! Hehe Yup I am definitely accepted into City College now! :D Ah now I need to make the Dr.'s appointment, do the drug test, renew my CPR, etc. etc, ......... but I'm happy to do it all again. :)

Congrats on City, Fairewand!!! So proud of you. I just finished my first semester of nursing at Grossmont and boy was it tough. I got a high B in fundamentals and an A in Pharmacology. Woot!!! 1 semester down, 3 to go :)

hey sdmamma. you got in through the scripps program, correct? My friend is doing that too, she just has to take one more class. So do you get in immediately after you finish your pre-reqs or how does that work? she wasn't sure, i told her to see a counselor, but any answers would be appreciated

Yes I got in through Scripps. From what I understand, if you completed all youe prereqs---just the sciences I think , (u can still have general ed unfinished) you get on the waiting list, submit your app to Scripps, along with 2 letters of rec (one must be from your manager, the other from another coworkwer) and just write a "200 word statement about why you want to be a nurse..blah blah blah (the usual hoop with any program :). You turn it into HR and its actually SCRIPPS who picks the candidates, not Grossmont. But each semester, Grossmont has 40 total slots, including the LVN-RN step up, and 30 of those spots are reserved for Scripps employees. So...I would say she has an excellent chance of bypassing the waitlist alltogether if she gets in through Scripps. Tell her good luck!!

But each semester, Grossmont has 40 total slots, including the LVN-RN step up, and 30 of those spots are reserved for Scripps employees.

Grossmont only admits 30 LVN-RN step up students a year in the Spring, so I don't know how that works with the Scripps program. It almost doesn't seem fair to those who have spent years on the waiting list that 30 of the 40 students admitted every semester are through Scripps. Am I reading this right? I was only on the waiting list for the LVN-RN step up for one semester even though my letter said the wait was 3 years.

After reading this I decided to ask the Department of Nursing at Grossmont College and the response was that the Scripps applicants are above and beyond what they take from the waitlist and no student that has been waiting on the waitlist will wait any longer than they would without the Scripps grant.

I am on the waiting list for LVN-RN (since 02/2009) and yes i was informed 2-3 year waiting period. I am just curious to know how long others waited for this program.
