I've been on the Grossmont waiting list for a year and a half now. Estimated start date is fall of 2007...anyone else?? I mainly see posts from people in programs or people still taking pre req's. Looking for others in limbo here in san diego like myself.

we'll get there soon!! :wink2:
My sister in law is on the list too. She got on it june 2006. She couldn't get in 152. It took her a full year of trying because of her registration date. The wait is three years now!
I agree, they really need to update the website.Thank goodness i found others.

Ok, those of you be at the ready in case they call. They called SO many people last minute when I started the program, me included.
how long did they give you to decide? i know a lady who was called two weeks into the semester & given five minutes to decide whether or not she'd start the next day.
i'm so bad at hearing my phone ring, i'm just afraid that i'd miss the call if they DID call me! hahah
If they are already into the semester, I imagine they don't give you time. They need to know.
I was lucky, they called me in Nov for the spring semester. But we had people coming into class all week.
It's a definite long shot for me to get in this Spring since I've ONLY been on the waiting list for 1 year, but could you please tell us what they require in order to start. I'm desparately trying to locate my yellow immunization card, but will probably need to do something else. Someone else mentioned a CPR class...
You have to have a current CPR certification.
Vaccinations that you need are a clear TB test, that you will have to wait on though because it has to be within a certain # of months I believe. MMR, either proof or you can get the titer done, which I did. You need the whole Hep B course 3 doses. Tetorifice/Diphterhia, dated within 10 years. And then Varicella vaccine or showing seropositivity, meaning you've had it.
You'll need a doctors exam and a dental exam. The school gives you forms that need to be filled out, so you might have to wait on that. But id suggest getting any dental work done and out of the way.
Now something else they are doing, which we had to do before the start of the fall semester are background checks and drug tests. That is something you'll have to wait on as well.
I think that's it! But imagine being called the week of school, I know they let deadlines go beyond with the students just called in.
Did you already have your cpr class done when you got the call? I guess i should start the Hep vac this month and go to the dentist for a check up.
Nope, I had time between the call and the start of the semester.
But you can always do it now!
a little update: i emailed the grossmont nursing dept contact lady & asked how long the waiting list is & she emailed back to say that since my application was completed in may of 2005, that my "possible" start date would be fall of 2007 & that they hope to send me an invitation to the program at that time.
now, i don't want to get my hopes up, but do you think they'd even go as far as to say fall was my "possible" start date if it weren't more like a "probable" start date?
