Nurses. What were your fears as a new nurse?
A new nurse just starting your first job?
A new nurse in a different department?
A new nurse in a different country?
A new nurse going from LPN/EAN to RN?
A new nurse going from RN-BSN?

My original thought when I saw this was, "student looking for help with homework," but that doesn't seem likely.
My biggest fear when starting out was not having enough downtime to enjoy myself. Got over that one pretty quick.

My thought too was homework, but maybe not so here goes.
Biggest fear, my life would only be work. I made sure that did not happen, and
Second biggest fear not fitting in as a RN. I did find my niche and all is well
Thank you. Not homework. Haha. I've been an RN for 5 years and my biggest fear has always been making mistakes so whenever I do I'm hard on myself. I'm new to a country, field and job. Making mistakes. Had a good cry one day and wondered how many others feel the same at anytime.

Not directly related to nursing, but my biggest fear is not being able to retire. I have lots of plans for income streams but I don't have enough money to make any of them materialize yet and it stresses me out.
I would like to be retired by 40 but we will see what happens.

As a new nurse, biggest fear is harming someone. I work in ICU so I'm always scared and respectful of anything I do.
My fear is pretty similar. I'm afraid of looking foolish. Everyone makes mistakes but it doesn't away the feeling of being incompetent sometimes. I've applied for an OR fellowship and worried I'll mess up. I know I can do it and I'll do well eventually. I just dislike the baby phase. Thank you all for sharing.

Always thinking of ways to make extra money as well. I'm all over the place though. I'll think of an idea and want to jump on it immediately afraid "someone else might do it before me"

I'm a new grad in the middle of orientation for my first position in healthcare working as an RN on a pediatric unit. My biggest fear is looking incompetent to my coworkers/patients and their families, not getting the hang of the job, and making a mistake that causes harm. I think it's pretty normal for all new grads to feel as I do, but that doesn't lessen the fears.

1) my action/inaction causing harm to a human
2) not fitting in or being accepted
Paediatrics is scarier to me. I did peds for a year. It wasn't as scary as I imagined it would be. One of my biggest fear is looking incompetent in front of my coworkers, especially ones who ear their young. All the best :-))

I used to worry about harming people too. Hardly do now thankfully. Once I'm on the job the fear goes for me.
