A former National President for our Returned Servicemans League (RSL), the Australian equivalent of the VFW, had this quote on his office wall,

"If you can read this, thank a Teacher.

Because you are reading this in English, thank a Soldier."

I know that this may not be as relevant for US service personel but here it takes a quick look at our History during WW2 (In which he served) to make a poignant meaning.

Have you Guys/Girls got a quote that sticks out with its meaning?

Not quite in the same vain, but still, very patriotic.

"There is nothing wrong with America that can't be fixed by what's right with America."

The quote I use in my signature here on All Nurses:

"It is easy to take liberty for granted, when you have never had it taken from you"

Dick Cheney.

And my other favorite one:

"Do what you can, with what you have, where you are"

Teddy Roosevelt

Here is one that I use to sign my emails. It is a little long but it has a good message.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest thing. The decayed and degrading state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

-John Stewart Mills
