Allow the president to invade a neighboring nation, whenever he shall deem it necessary to repel an invasion, and you allow him to do so whenever he may choose to say he deems it necessary for such a purpose - and you allow him to make war at pleasure. -Abraham Lincoln

Here is one that I use to sign my emails. It is a little long but it has a good message.
"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest thing. The decayed and degrading state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

A former National President for our Returned Servicemans League (RSL), the Australian equivalent of the VFW, had this quote on his office wall,
"If you can read this, thank a Teacher.
Because you are reading this in English, thank a Soldier."
I know that this may not be as relevant for US service personel but here it takes a quick look at our History during WW2 (In which he served) to make a poignant meaning.
Have you Guys/Girls got a quote that sticks out with its meaning?
