Members are discussing the accreditation and acceptance of BSN and MSN degrees from GCU in different states, particularly focusing on the requirement of a preceptorship for BSN programs. There are concerns about certain states not accepting GCU BSN degrees, while others share experiences with the capstone course and offer tips for scholarly activities. Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.
Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.
Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.
Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.
Maybe I will frame mine. I really should...after I find it.....
I posted this on the other forum but thought what the heck I will post it here too! Hey all it's been a while. I hope you are all in good health and stick kicking along on these journey at GCU! I am just finishing up pro. dynamics today with an A and so far so good. I had an amazing instructor that also teaches others courses. I am willing to share via PM. My next class is Family-Centered Health Promotion, and I can use any pointers on how to be successful if some of you guys are in a helping mood;) I can also use the name of instructors to stay away from and instructors to request. Thank you all in advance! Keep up the good work guys! Oh, PrisimRN I am loving those all the new graphics with your posts!
Congrats to all the graduates, I cannot wait to be in your shoes.
Congrats on completing your first class! As with any class, to be successful, stay ahead of the game. This class consists of your first literature review. This will be a common thread toward the end of the course, with two review of literature in the capstone and two in research. So, take note of how these are completed. Otherwise, it's assessment of families and your learning style. Oh..and a CLC.
Have fun!
Thanks tokmom. Ahhh literature review I will try my best to learn as much as I can to be better prepared for the latter courses. I am still working on perfecting my writing skills as it took me DAYS to write a paper. I cannot believe how long it takes me to even come up with an intro let alone the body of the paper. And Turnitin has been driving me insane. I get my title, school name, name of course, and topic of the paper highlighted in RED every time. I guess I have to just continue to get my feet wet.
So, I think I turned in a subpar powerpoint this week. This whole week has sucked! Had some complications from surgery, landing me in the hospital till Thursday. Had to do my first DQ half drugged from the hospital Ah well, one more week of this junk then on to the next class.

Don't worry about your name, class etc..being in red. What is your tii score, on average? If it's well below 20%, then don't even worry. My papers ran anywhere from 0%-9%.
What is it that makes you stumble on your intro? Can we help in anyway? :)
Also want to add, you will become much quicker with papers in general. Trust me, lol. I still took days to edit, but I could write the paper itself in 1-2 days. It was rough and I would then take the time to refine the body.

What class and power point?
I hope the instructor gives you some leeway since you were ill. Poor thing. I hope you are feeling better!
My Turnitin scores were 9-14% and I don't know how when I cite everything except for the title and all the other stuff I mentioned. And about the intro, I think I have a hard time because I so just do not enjoy writing papers. Not 1 part at all. Then I get worried that it will not be scholarly enough or the instructor will tear it to stress just because it might be obvious that I do not like writing papers.

1) Check your pm
2) You can cite, but the score is picking up too much of similarity. What you need to do is read and then take what you read and put it in your own words. Also using a thesaurus helps too. Do you have Grammarly? It helps lower the score because it will recommend different words to use. :)
Awhh man Sunshine Daisy, I hope you get better soon, and I hope that your instructor will be understanding.

I need to find a frame for it. Currently it is just sitting on a shelf
