Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Published

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

I just submitted my application to GCU! I am delighted to find this thread.

I am an older RN, but completing BSN is on my bucket list. Overall I am reading

good things on this chat. I know three nurses who did this program and loved

it. I think the biggest hurdle for me will be the formatting of papers, the tech

things.

Congratulations to all of you who have completed the program and those who

are done with statistics! :)

Welcome petunia!

There are two threads that are active. Here is the link for the other.

You will get very proficient at Word, APA and power points. If you can, bone up ahead of time so it's not such a shocker. There is an APA program called PEERLA that is helpful. You still have to understand APA, so look on the Owl Purdue website or the official APA site.

Before my first class, I familiarized myself with all of the above and now I can hold my own. You will too after a few papers, and it sounds like you have co-workers to help you along!

How did I miss this board? I am in my 5th class as well. I have had more exercise, cleaning of home (I defrosted the fridge yesterday) in this course than any other class, and I will pay for it come Sunday! :dead: Falling back on old habits of wait till the end and then hurry... We have had 2 drop the class already...I know I have thought about dropping!

Ouch on those dropping. We lost roughly 2 or 3 in the first week.

You can't drop, cuz we won't let you, lol.

Good day everyone:

I'm not sure how to read Tuition and Fees | Grand Canyon University in terms of trying to guage an estimated total investment for RN to BSN. For those of you already at GCU, for estimating purposes only, what is the total cost for a RN to BSN with them?

Thank you.

Roughly 17 as well, but I qualified for a grant and employee assistance, so I have roughly half of that paid for.

Grab a co worker or family member for power point and even youtube is helpful. Mess around with Word and bug co workers. :) GCU does offer some tutoring for the above stuff, but it's not difficult to figure out. Just make sure how to work both right away, because the first class has papers and a group power point. :)

I am now thinking, nothing quick? I need to learn the paper format etc..

Thank you all for the tuition answers.

I get some tuition reimbursement.. if it is than, $ 10,000 I will pursue.

Nothing quick? You mean enrolling? Give yourself a day, and you will have Word and power point down.

APA...go look at Owl as well as the writing center at GCU. They have templates. :)

I agree, if I can learn how to do APA, anyone can! Owl and PERRLA, then Grammerly, and WriteCheck, I use them all. I think it is more the determination to do something to get you through this!

There were no tutors this week!!! I finally got one last night because someone cancelled and I have to redo one problem!!!! But I won't even go into the DQ's!!! Grrrrrrr

I am waiting for Grand Canyon to tell me what courses I need, transcripts are on their way.

Do you feel they are fairly generous with accepting prior work. I found WGU was not at all.

I think they were pretty good. They accepted most of mine, but I had plenty too chose from because I had an Associate Degree along with an ADN and LPN degree.

Just for the record, they don't accept anyone like people believe. My GPA was borderline, related to partying before tests back in the 80's :smokin:, that put me on academic probation with GCU. My GPA was acceptable, but barely. I was on probation through 4 classes and received my acceptance letter in the mail after I passed the 4th class :roflmao:
