Hello Everyone! I am about to finish my first semester of an ADN program. We are needing to raise money to pay for graduation expenses. Do any of you have any suggestions? Thank you! Deborah Ann:balloons:

Car washes (cliche but efffective), homemade quilt raffle (if anyone you know can sew or someone will donate a quilt for you to raffle - find a local handicraft store and see if they have a quilting circle that may help you out), raffle for some sort of a collectible like an American Girl doll (doll costs $87 plus shipping and I've heard of people raising a good chunk of cash by selling tickets for $2 apiece), bake sales (equally cliche but somewhat effective)...
I'm idea-ed out now; unfortunately none of them are terribly creative...good luck with your efforts!

I was trying to think back to raising money for school trips. I know that one of the malls in our area let us use their parking lot for a car wash- most people had the supplies so it was all profit. If you guys just want money, maybe everyone in your class can bring in $5 a month--if it is possible (believe me I know money is tight in school:uhoh3: ) I'll keep thinking... let me know what you decide!

How about "Ad Books" ? Pay a set fee for "messeges" to the Graduate nurse (from family and friends, etc), and print them in a booklet?

Hi Deborah Ann,
I don't know if you have a Sonic Drive-In where you are but if you can get a group together they'll let you be the waitstaff and your group gets to keep the tips. They'll also allow you to post signs on what the fundraiser is for.
Also, some of the fast food places in our area (Nick and Willy's pizza, Chick-Fil-A) will host a fundraiser night. Your group will get a portion of the receipts for that night. It's usually 10-20%. Your job is to get the word out about when and where it will be.
Hope that helps.

We have held garage sales. These are great fundraisers, especially if you can hold one indoors during the "off" season. We also hold a silent auction each year. This is also a pretty easy fundraiser. And, when all else fails, a bake sale is a quick and easy money maker.

The seniors at my University sold sweatshirts to raise money for their pinning ceremony. They had the University logo and school of nursing on them. They looked fantastic! We new students grabbed them up fast!
Good Luck:) :)
t-shirts as one other poster mentioned always go over well. even better would be scrub shirts. you might also be able to come up with something that the nurses at the local hospitals might want as well.
you mean the college doesnt have a graduation and you have to hold your own?

We have also raised quite a bit of money for our pinning ceremony by selling custom "nursing" sweatshirts and t-shirts. My class has also raised money by selling planter boxes complete with flowers (made by my classmate and her fiance), stethoscope covers (sewn by another classmate), and by doing a "competition" between first and second year students called "pennies for pinning". Basically all nursing students donate their spare change over a period of time and whichever class donates more money gets a coffee and donut "brunch" paid for by the other class.

As the VP of my Nursing class, fundraising has been a challenge!
Over the past two years, we have held several bake sales, sold Coffee Cakes from a local distributor and fudge from a specialty shop. We also collected $25./ semester/ student to off-set the expense of our graduation party & pinning ceremony.
We had some other ideas but we just never had the class involvement to do, such as: yard sales, car wash and raffles.
Good luck to you & your class!
