Graduated in 1996 in the Philippines, to start reviewing the NCLEX

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I graduated and took the Nursing board exam(and passed) in the Philippines waaaaay back in 1996, but did not practice the nursing profession. Hence, I feel that I have forgotten EVERYTHING I have learned in Nursing school. After 15 years, and now residing here in California, I have now decided to give it a try and take the NCLEX. I am enrolled in a review course (Kaplan). Do you guys have any advice for me, with this situation, as to how to start my review, how to learn the "forgotten" nursing concepts? Is the Kaplan review course enough? or do I need to pile up on other NCLEX review books out there? HELP!!

Hi, Love RN. Thank you so much for the advice and for the links you shared. I read them all and found them very inspiring and helpful. I feel so happy and inspired that a lot of people in this community are very much willing to help others in need. Thanks again!

One question, Love RN, which Saunders book should I use? Thanks again!

You're welcome!

Saunders Comprehensive Review for NCLEX RN. I read the 4th edition. I'm not sure if there's much difference from the 3rd ed (this may be a cheaper one) or the 5th ed (more expensive?) .

Yeah, nurses here are just awesome!

ok, got it! Thanks again! :)

Hi, maritelrn! It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who's an old grad and still giving it a go to take the nclex. ;)

Yes, I know the feeling of fighting that sleepy feeling while studying. Good luck to you on your exam! :) I graduated from Fatima University (Our Lady of Fatima College when I graduated in '96). Thanks for your help.

Hi ccamp123 I graduated from Fatima too year 1997. Yesterday was the first time I took the test and did not get the good pvt pop up but I am still hopeful. Would like to know how you got back on track. My email add is [email protected]

Hi, crvalerie. I haven't taken the test yet, I'm planning to take it in June. I got caught up with work and a lot of other things. Haven't even got time to study consistently. Keep your hopes up! Got your email address, will keep in touch with you as soon as I take the exam. :)
