  1. Hi, Theone40. I just came across this post and wanted to ask you how it is working at the Juvenile Hall. I will be interviewing with them soon as a relief nurse and just wanted to know what a day (or night) for an RN / LVN is like over there. Are you still with LA County? I am! ?
  2. Hi, I'm on the same boat... I graduated in the PI, RN there, took the NCLEX-RN last October but failed. With the concurrency issues, I am focused on taking the NCLEX-PN, instead. I will Bookmark and follow this thread because I, too, need help with the application process. :)
  3. Hi cherrybee! I know it's been a year since you posted this, but I am now in this same situation. I am a grad of Fatima university, RN in the PI, I took the NCLEX-RN exam just last October and failed. Now with the concurrency issues I am geared towards taking the NCLEX-PN. I just don't know where to start. If it's not too much, can you please advice me on what to do re: application to the LVN Board. I am actually confused with the "Nursing Experience" part of the application. I do not have work experience, since I never worked as a nurse. Thank you!
  4. thanks everybody! I have already taken the Kaplan online classes, enjoyed it, but I still want a good content-based, comprehensive review. I've heard Hurst is a good one. I prefer a live, classroom setting, though.. But if i don't find one here in Manila, then i probably should give Hurst a try.
  5. Hi, I am planning to take the NCLEX early next year and need a good comprehensive review. I would like to ask if any of you know of a Review Center in Manila or Cavite area. I need a classroom review set-up because I tend to focus more than online classes. Thank you!
  6. Hi, crvalerie. I haven't taken the test yet, I'm planning to take it in June. I got caught up with work and a lot of other things. Haven't even got time to study consistently. Keep your hopes up! Got your email address, will keep in touch with you as soon as I take the exam. :)
  7. One question, Love RN, which Saunders book should I use? Thanks again!
  8. Hi, Love RN. Thank you so much for the advice and for the links you shared. I read them all and found them very inspiring and helpful. I feel so happy and inspired that a lot of people in this community are very much willing to help others in need. Thanks again!
  9. Thank you caliotter3. Yeah, sometimes I do get so frustrated because I can't seem to even start reading. It's like there's so much info that I have to cover. Thank you for your encouraging words. :)
  10. hi, toto.. Congrats on passing the NCLEX! It's so awesome to think that you only did self-study and passed on your first take. :) You're right that I really have to focus on the nursing concepts. A lot of people have told me that Saunders is a great concept book, yet some have told me to just concentrate on one book so I won't be overwhelmed. I totally agree that critical thinking is an important key in passing the NCLEX. Again, congrats and thanks for the advice. :)
  11. Thanks, joe17! I will definitely consider Hurst. :)
  12. Hi, joe17! Yes, you're right, I really need to focus on content for starters. I honestly don't feel confident about this, because I feel like I've forgotten everything. HURST Review.. is that a prep course, or a book? (Sorry for my ignorance).
  13. Hi, maritelrn! It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who's an old grad and still giving it a go to take the nclex. Yes, I know the feeling of fighting that sleepy feeling while studying. Good luck to you on your exam! :) I graduated from Fatima University (Our Lady of Fatima College when I graduated in '96). Thanks for your help.
  14. I graduated and took the Nursing board exam(and passed) in the Philippines waaaaay back in 1996, but did not practice the nursing profession. Hence, I feel that I have forgotten EVERYTHING I have learned in Nursing school. After 15 years, and now residing here in California, I have now decided to give it a try and take the NCLEX. I am enrolled in a review course (Kaplan). Do you guys have any advice for me, with this situation, as to how to start my review, how to learn the "forgotten" nursing concepts? Is the Kaplan review course enough? or do I need to pile up on other NCLEX review books out there? HELP!!
