Grades???

a friend of mine told me today that she has a 57 average in A&P & was afraid she couldn't get it up to a 70...do you think she can??

That's hard to tell. Depends on how the grades are broken down and how much they count.

Is it possible? I believe that it is, but not without some hard work. If she has been studying hard and is still doing poorly, she needs to speak with her instructor to show her how to study smart.

With more than half the semester to go, yeah I think she can. Lots of studying, possibly gettting into a study group! I wish her luck :)

Great feedback.....I really think study groups work!

Study groups do work, but not alone. I think a combination of studying both with and without a group is the best mix.

She can if she makes a real effort. If she has difficulty passing anatomy, she's going to find the nursing classes as equally, if not more, difficult. A 70 isn't passing in any nursing course that I know of. It will get her through anatomy, but she needs to examine why she is doing so poorly & find ways to improve. A&P is one class that shouldn't be blown off.....they look at your grades in those classes when it comes to determining admission into the nursing program.

This is also true at my school. Admission is based on a points system. Although "C" is passing, you don't get very many points for a "C". I always heard that they use the pre-requesite classes to kind of "weed" people out. If you struggle with these then you will have an even harder time with the actual nursing courses. I agree with Jennerizer.... maybe she needs to find out why she isn't doing so well and try to improve her study habits. I wish her best of luck. :)

thank you all for your input..the way they do our grades is that unit tests count as 70% of our final grade & 30% count as the final semester grade...i really hope she can do it because she's really determined to becoming a nurse...

Tell her good luck. I did it. I failed a few tests in A&P I, but did so well in the lab, it brought my grade up to a 71%. I received a C for the semester and was so very happy.

I also wish her luck. A&P is a hard concept for some people to grasp. Especially in the begining when it is a lot of pathophys. Have her take a look at areas that might be weak on tests or assignments. A study group can help her work on those areas and explain them in a different manner.
